What is your Experience Buying CDs And Vinyl Directly From Artist Websites?

Hi guys, i prefer to purchase hard media (CDs or Vinyl) directly from artist websites when the artist is more obscure/low profile.

I would like to support them as much as possible by buying the CDs since the streaming services screw them over a bit too much. But, it feels like the order fulfillment times can extend from weeks to months in many instances. I understand it is not practical for them ship media when they are on tour and what not.

At times, i am anxiously waiting forever to get my hands on a CD from a special artist that i would really like to hold in my hands.

In any case, what has been your experience?

Sometimes it’s the only way to get special pressings. I remember Radiohead released a dbl/45rpm of one of their albums only to  members of their fanclub.

I too like to support the artists whenever possible.  However I recently ordered some vinyl from a boutique label and it took at least a month to receive my purchase.  If you’re buying a gift like I was, plan very far in advance.

I bought a clear vinyl version of "Middle Cyclone" from Neko's site years ago.

The few I have ever bought, and thats cds.I didn't have a,problem. But with anything there's a chance ,something might go wrong.

Only did this once but it was a very positive experience for me. I purchased the “Data Lords” CD directly from Maria Schneider’s website. Shipping was prompt and the quality of the product including liner notes was excellent. This was the only way to purchase this release and I would do it again in the future.
