Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!

I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO.  First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience.  Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues.  Or maybe it’s just me?

Thank you all for the feedback. As mentioned in this thread by other users, and by us in the other discussion about the ads, please email any screenshots to [email protected]. And even better, if you can right click and copy the url of the ad. This allows us to actually hunt down any rogue advertisers or diagnose any ad units that aren’t behaving properly. This helps us know if it’s just certain devices, browsers, etc. Your experience in the Forums should not be negatively impacted by ads, but the only way to fix this is if we get evidence by the people experiencing it. We apologize for this, and look forward to gathering evidence that we can share with our ad partners to investigate.

First Tammy, thanks so much for responding here.  Very specifically what’s driving me absolutely nuts here now is the page refreshing every few minutes or so where I lose what I’m typing.  I can tell it’s gonna happen because the response to my typing becomes progressively slower as I’m typing a post.  My uninformed guess is the constant refreshing the individual ads is exacerbating this, but I don’t know.  It doesn’t happen when I’m editing my post where there are no ads on the screen, and it doesn’t happen on other sites where the ads are more static so that’s where my theory is coming from.  I’m using an iPad via Wi-Fi and Safari as my browser and the latest iOS version, but if there’s anything else I can provide that could be helpful just lemme know.  I’m at the point where I’m gonna just use another browser (recommended here) that blocks the ads and seems to work, but I’d rather not if I don’t have to.  Thank you!!!!!!!

@soix

I do not know if Audiogon Customer Support (ADMIN) will see your above post or not.

As was suggested above, please email your popup ad, etc. issues to [email protected] and provide as many details as possible (screen shots, if possible). Please include your comments for the popups, site performance issues, etc.

Your email will provide valuable information to the Audiogon developers, helping them understand what is happening and work on a solution to prevent it from occurring again.

Please continue to post your issues to this Forum, for everyone to see AND ALSO EMAIL THEM TO [email protected].  Thank you.

I'm about to give up Audiogon because of the intrusive and disruptive ads. I understand that they are a for-profit company but pretty much all the other audio sites out there are free. And those who have ads, none are as irritating as Audiogon. I love this site, I have bought and sold a lot of gear here and I love reading and contributing. But it's becoming very frustrating and I have a low tolerance for bullsh*t.
