How to dispose of your system?

A lot of us are getting to the age where  we may start thinking about what will happen to our precious systems when we’re gone?  Will they be sold in pieces, breaking up the synergy we’ve worked so hard to establish? That seems to me to be criminal.
What about trying to sell the whole system, kit and kaboodle, maybe to a member of this forum? Would anyone, perhaps a novice, be willing to pay for a very finely tuned instrument?
If the system cost say,  $35K to put together, what would a fair price be?

I think this is the best thread ever.

My thoughts are keep all your invoices in a file that can be found after you die.

At least the people who get rid of your stuff will know how much you paid for it.

If you have family members, name them in your will for these items. Do not let your system be sold at  an estate sale. If you have a complex estate with multiple beneficiaries the stuff may have to get appraised and likely will be sold at an estate sale and certain heirs will be very unhappy. So simply indicate who will get these individual items and it makes it so much easier and then let them figure out what they do with them at their own pleasure.

Keep all your boxes of course. And make sure people know the value of all the boxes you've been keeping otherwise they'll leave them on the curb and have them picked up by recyclers which is tragic because you need the damn boxes.

Make it as easy as possible for people to deal with your stuff after you leave planet Earth.

My biggest fear is the wife selling all my gear for what I told her I paid for it. 🤣

My own designs for a farewell is a 'mantra' well known to Loved Ones - Remember You were all very very Loved - Fire Up the Digger - Cut the Hole down by the Dogs place of rest - Drop Me In - Drop the HiFi on Top - Drop In any other Crap I've collected and done all your heads in and is no longer to be tolerated - Backfill - My strong advice to Family - No matter what circumstances surround my departure - It is a result of current Living - Let It Be, I F**king Mean It, Let It Be.

I will then have left the 7 Billion of Us currently alive on the Planet and will have joined the estimated 117 Billion who had their time, of which (my calc's) approx' 100+Billion would not have known an electronic device, let alone an Audio System.

Material Items, are as a design, a very very disposable commodity. If one wants to reach outside of such an ingrained mindset, the Circular Economy is a great place to become familiar with.

@rvpiano Oops you did it again.

Try not to beat yourself up. Why punish yourself?
You may very well by taking this route, unduly worry yourself to death.
