Hana Umami Black

Just noticed on the Hana cartridge site that they've made an Umami Black cartridge for $11.5k, it must be absolute one hell of a cart. If its been out a while and I'm just lost on the times, my apologies! Anyone with deep pockets who gets one, please report. I've been running an Umami Red since it came out and damn for 3x the cost this must be a dynamo!

If resale value is a primary concern, there are some exotic brands with very poor resale versus MSRP, because of competition with gray market goods, and also "wink, wink" deals. A 20K cart with foreign distributer and then dealer who each tack on a huge cut (for simply routing along an 8 oz box) leaves a LOT of margin room. And in general, a used 10K - 20K list cart is simply going to have to advertise a very, very substantial discount to move on the used market (especially this one). It gets worse as you move up in price.

With Blue and Red, Hana seems to have controlled their distribution quite well - and resale seems very strong, at least based on what I’ve seen.

I believe the AirTight PC-7 (sadly discontinued) was an Excel (Hana maker) build - and damn it sounds great! Need to get my ears on the Umamis some day. My Koetsu Blue Lace with this very diamond cantilever is spectacular. The Black could be special!

@mulveling Lucky for me I don’t have a cartridge I feel like I’d ever want to move on into the resale market. They are too good for others. cheeky

I'm curious at how much better it could be compared to say Dynavector's Karat17DX? I've owned that and a Ruby years back.  The thing is that it's more money than the Audio Technica Limited edition, where the stylus/cantilever was fashioned from a single piece of diamond.  That should be a real step up, one less glued joint.

@dwette Congrats on the upgrade to the Master. I also have an Innovation. Was the upgrade worth the cost, and if so can you share any details?
