Where are you? What mods have you done ?

I have been using these ET2's for over 9 years now.
I am still figuring them out and learning from them. They can be modified in so many ways. Bruce Thigpen laid down the GENIUS behind this tonearm over 20 years ago. Some of you have owned them for over 20 years !

New owners – what questions do you have ?

We may even be able to coax Bruce to post here. :^)

There are so many modifications that can be done.

Dressing of the wire with this arm is critical to get optimum sonics along with proper counterweight setup.

Let me start it off.

Please tell us what you have found to be the best wire for the ET-2 tonearm ? One that is pliable/doesn’t crink or curl. Whats the best way of dressing it so it doesn’t impact the arm. Through the spindle - Over the manifold - Below manifold ? What have you come up with ?

I don't think I need the magnet but I may try it just to eliminate the approach.  How do I pick a magnet of the proper strength? 

I used something like this -

placed on its side with the 2 edges of the magnets running parallel to the spindle just below.

@dover: I followed your recommandation a few years ago and mounted a small circular "fridge"-magnet (a neodymium magnet with a magnetically conductive "sleeve" around and a handle) very close to the spindle, by wood and Blu-Tak.
The magnet is small but very strong and has a subtle damping effect, which stabilises the low resonance frequency of my ET 2.5 / B&O MMC2 combo.

Although in average softer suspensions incorporate more damping, the lower resonance frequency (specially the lateral r.f. with the ET arms) makes the combo more prone to be triggered by off-center holes etc.
Therefore a bit damping is desirable.

Interesting, I have some neodymium magnets and blue tac so it will be easy to try.  

I researched repairing the Jun Air pump and it is a loss and can’t be repaired.  Luckily I don’t have much invested in it.  I have procured a 2 gallon Fortress compressor from Harbor Freight for about half the cost of replacing the Jun.  It is advertised as 60db but measures about 65db.  I will locate it on the other side of the wall which is studs over fired adobe and that should do the trick.  A side benefit is I have  portable compressor that can support other uses.

As to setting up the surge tank, regulator and bleeder valve does anyone have any experience or suggestions?   I’m thinking  I want the regulator on the compressor side of the tank with the bleed valve between the regulator and surge tank.
