Power cables of your choice, and why?

@rsf507  in both demos the set up was pretty simple, I like simple and streamlined systems. He had a PS audio Stellar Strata MK2, being fed by a streaming unit (forgot what brand or unit), paired with Paradigm Persona 5F's. 

I chose a familiar track (to me), and he played the track with an Audio Quest Monsson AC cable. He would then shut down the amp, replace the AQ with his, turn the amp back on and play the same track. 

The differences I heard were subtle, but noted. My wife who is not one of us had some comments. There appeared to me to be more focused sound overall, increased clarity,  more open as well. Another listener said something to the effect that he could hear some reflection of drums within the studio recording. I wasn't necessarily paying attention to that. 

I am a DIY'er and that included assembling my own power cables over the years, usually with Furutech FP-SO22N Nano AuAg 14AWG cable and their F11 N1 connectors.  That was my preference until a friend made some changes on her rig that now gets power via Emotiva XIEC-2 meter cables.  I was impressed with the value, build quality and clean sound from her components.  Rather then me going into detail just here check them out at and see what you think.

Four things matter in a power cable:

1. Proper shielding to control EMI/RFI.

2. A grounded shield, typically at the source end (outlet).

3. Adequate gauge — 12 AWG or larger for high current power / integrated amps, and at least 14 AWG for other components.

4. Conductors made from materials with good conductivity.

Please let me know if I’ve missed anything, especially something that could affect sound quality. Power cables that meet these requirements can be found at very reasonable prices in the $50–$80 range. I’ve used WAudio 10 AWG, Pangea AC-14 (14 AWG), and Emotiva XIEC 12 AWG — all solid options that won’t break the bank.

If only you knew what you are missing that the $80 cord will never provide.

I have tried/owned so many power cables through many years, including many DIY versions.

It all started after trying a Synergistic Research Master Coupler that a dealer provided. I was convinced as some of you have stated that NO WAY can just a power cable improve the sound.

But it did.

If your system and ears are up to it, you can clearly hear the differences in cables, be it cable inductance, shielding, configuration, conductor type, design  etc.etc...

Today, I own all AQ Dragon power cables. I also own the AQ 7000 power conditioner. There is a strong synergy with them and the Power Conditioner. (IMHO, they were probably designed together)
