New Turntable Advice

Good Morning

I's time for a change ! My current system is A VPI Prime with ADS speed control, on my second replacement cueing device, dual pivot added. With Ortofon Credenza Bronze MC cartridge, and Parasound JC3+ preamp.

What started search was just another let down with the VPI, cueing terrible, and the ADS couldn't bring the platter up to 45 RPM!!!

OK I'm heading in the direction of ~ $5000 table without arm or cartridge , Supa Trac Blackbird, and going to audition DS Audio W3. I was looking at a refurbished Nakamichi Dragon CT with album centering feature, but I think there maybe better technology from this vintage design.

So can you help with your advice on my next table, thanks Very Much

Bruno

First of all I empathize with you.  I had a Prime and never did get comfortable with it,  eventually it morphed into an HW-40.  There are a lot of good options.  I like all of Elliott's suggestions.  My 2nd TT is an SL1200GAE and I can attest that Technics TTs, really any of their better ones, are likely to perform to your satisfaction.

Take a peak at the Kuzma Stabi S. You can get it with a one or two arm option. Only concern is it requires a very sturdy platform otherwise you might end up with foot fall issues.

I'm reading all your responses.  I head to Tokyo in 2 weeks maybe I should look for a table ?
Elliott thanks for the leads, I'm the original owner of a Sony PS-X700 which I just had refurbished, does anyone think it's a contender, any votes for the Nakamichi Drangon CT. Refurbished?

Bill I can't understand they can't get it right I even had to send back the Speed Control. !!

Anyone have experience with DS Audio cartridge or the Supa Blackbird ?

Thanks for going out of your way way Elliott for those links

pls keep sending your perspective

The OP is $20K+ in without a table and figuring in the DS Audio phono. Looks like time for a SERIOUS/next level rig.

Am I correct in this summation?

The Nak is a conversation/novelty piece comparing whatever is configured and acquired.

Nice conundrum to be in. Since you'll be  in Japan- TechDas.
