Linn Bedrok LP12 Plinth Upgrade

An equivalent plinth made of the same material could be put together by anyone for a small fraction of the price that Linn is charging. I predict that this will spawn numerous third party efforts which will be just as good as the Flintstones plinth.

What other commercially available TT uses “densified wood” in its construction?

Artisan Fidelity and Albert Porter both have Resin Impregnated Densified Wood Plinths for sale, I would suggest either of these are Commercially Available.

There are from others also a range of TT's using Resin Impregnated Densified Wood material, as a Single Tier through to Multi Tiers, where pricing extends to $100K.

Albert Porter may have been the first ever to offer Panzerholz plinths, for Technics DDs. AF is in the same category. But both Albert and Artisan must be regarded as aftermarket suppliers. Neither make TTs or ever did. So the question is still open: who makes TTs with densified wood construction? I don’t sense any trend toward using densified wood among actual TT manufacturers. Not that that wouldn’t be a good thing. Right now, Linn is unique.

Clearaudio have been using panzerholz in their upper end turntables for many years. In their plinths the panzerholz is constrained within aluminium plates - which is much more stable than the Linn plinth, because the densified wood sheets can warp.

They also, along with others use panzerholz in their cartridge bodies.

I think Albert Porter gets around the possible warpage by cross laminating the panzerholz in slices that are perpendicular to the sheets - but I have seen some early plinths starting to fall apart.
