SACD Players

Hello,

New member here. I am looking to add an SACD player in order to play the DSD layer of SACD directly. Based on my research I have shortlisted PS Audio Direct Stream Memory player and McIntosh MCT500.

Option 1) I currently own McIntosh MA5300 which means I can use MCT500 with supplied DIN cable connected to MA5300’s DA1

Option 2) Purchase PS Audio Direct Stream Memory player and DirectStream DAC MK1 (Both discontinued)

From what I understand the memory buffering and Air Lens would make the media sound better. Whereas, I haven’t found many reviews on MCT500.

Both options would roughly cost the same. I am looking for the better sound. Which option is better? Any advice or insights would help.

Thank you,

SA

Thank you for your considerate answer, I never rush into a compulsive purchase. I research and save the cash for some months before. I had a good experiance with SONY when living in London, they deserve a better standing. I am a recent observer on this site, but singurlaly refuse to buy used kit, I've been stung before. I digress. I own a CD play/recorder (TASCAN pro CDRW900SX) It's for the car, I make mix discs and album copies.

I will take your advice and think it through.  A £4k sacd will be the most I have spent on a component thus far. But now it's on hold.

THANKS,

IAN.

I have an old Oppo 103 on my network and rip the sacds onto my hard drive. Then I can play thru Roon and to my native DSD Dac. Once you get it set up once...super easy to rip. I then store my SACDs with the rest of my CDs.

I am away from home now but what settings on the Oppo do you use to rip SACD?
