Center speaker placement?

At present in the ht rig the center speaker sits under the tv on top of the entertainment stand everything is on.
The wife wants a bigger tv!
Any larger than the present 65” will mean there will not be enough space for the center speaker under the tv any longer.
So only option would be to now mount the speaker above the tv on the wall.
My questions with this proposal would be delay as speaker would now be approximately 12” behind the top of the tv where now it is approximately 3” in front of the tv. And it obviously would now be a lot higher.

What is the consensus on center speaker placement from the more learned ht experts here?
Thank you.

Sound travels approximately 1 foot per millisecond. So you are talking roughly a 1ms delay. Most ht processors allow adjustment in 1ms increments. If you even will notice.

I agree above will be terrible. But then its all relative, and we are after all talking ht with a center channel.
Tv is right now at its highest position on the tv stand and the center speaker has about half inch clearance so a 75” tv will reduce that to a negative figure.
No options there but to buy a different entertainment stand that would allow the tv to mount high enough for the center speaker to still sit under it.
Which might be the better option from what I am reading on above tv speaker placement.

A stand for the center speaker in front of the entertainment stand would work but most assuredly would not pass the wife approval factor unfortunately.
Mounting the center above the TV could probably work with adjusting the delay, but I’d think optimally you’d need to angle it downward so the tweeter fires more toward your ears.  Aesthetically (or sonically) that may not be the most elegant solution, so considering those issues a new cabinet may be worth the expense.  Plus you obviously won’t have to deal with mounting the speaker, and the center may be more inline with the L/R speakers, which is also a good thing IME.
