These footers have a small hole near the base, with a screw poking out. What is the purpose of this screw and what should I do with it? I can just pull the screw out so it doesn't seem to be screwed in.

I have the Finite Elemente Cerabase Classic, and wondered if anyone in this thread knows the answer to my question - These footers have a small hole near the base, with a screw poking out. I believe that hole is if you want to insert the screw footers so you can connect to component. I have symposium super plus platforms under my speakers and three sets of cera pucs - one set under each amp and another under my phono stage. I do believe still points may be a little better than cera pucs (I have 4 sets of still points) but have not done an AB on the same component. |
@extracampine I noticed your question just now. Since I recently acquired the excellent Cerabase footers, I can answer your question. The screw that is placed in the small hole at the side of the footer is there to support the lower half from the upper half of the footer when it is not in use, thereby making sure that the ceramic balls do not fall out when the footer is not loaded..or in use. The screw is as you stated, able to be pulled out, which is exactly what one does once the footer is installed and the load is applied. Pulling the screw out allows the footer to now rest on the ceramic balls. I do question how many folk are listening to their Cerabase footers with the screw still in place, and wondering why they are not as enamored of the product as others report, lol. |
