Eminent Technology LFT-4 or LFT-6
against other ET speakers, or flat-panel speakers from other companies?
I realize the LFT-4 and LFT-6 are older models, buy does anyone
have a pair in either FL or MI that might allow me to visit for a short listen?
Thank You

I have a pair of 8b's on order, and just nabbed a pair of IV's on eBay. Paid more than they're worth I suppose, but they are the only pair I've seen for sale. I plan on comparing the two, and trying them together and/or with a pair of Tympani IV's as woofers. Gonna need some more high-power amps, aren't I?! Fun! |
I've owned a pair of LFT-IVs since 2008 (also LFT-VIs since 1998 & LFT-VIIIbs since 2006). I just did a refresh of the LFT-IVs (with a few tweaks to try still outstanding) & am VERY HAPPY with the results. Increased dynamics, definition, detailing, & naturalness, across the spectrum, but most markedly in the bass (which after damping the wings I realized the stock IVs bass is highly colored by the wings vibrating). Posting the details in the Audio Asylum Planar Speaker board here: https://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/t.mpl?f=mug&m=254730 Some of the things I did are simple & easily reversible (like grounding the speaker driver structures), others (like damping the wings) are not, but if you have a set of LFT-IIIs or IVs with the wings you won't be unhappy with the results of damping them. Hoping any ET speaker owner finds my experiences useful. Greg in Mississippi |
