Phoenix, AZ

The Arizona Audio Video Club began life as the Arizona Audiophile Society in 1985. The name was changed a few years back to more accurately reflect the varied interests of the members. The club meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month, at various locations in the greater Phoenix area. We occasionally schedule special interest meetings, with topics such as music listening, equipment evaluations, tech workshops, etc. Members receive monthly newsletters, either as hard copies or by e-mail. Members also enjoy discounts on purchases at several of the local audio and HT specialty stores. For more information, check out our website at www.azaudioclub.com

Thanks for the posts. As you might expect, it's next to impossible to find a meeting time that works for everyone. I will bring up the question about alternative meeting dates at the next steering committee meeting.

I think a special interest group for weekend activities is a great idea. All it would take to get started would be for a club member to offer to head up the group and to start arranging some appropriate activities.

Regarding the question about meeting notices on the club website - those are posted in the form of the club newsletter. The newsletter is typically published around the second weekend of the month, and then posted on the website within a day or two.

A SATURDAY meeting!!! This Saturday the 22nd, join us to listen to preamps, from 2 - 5pm. We'll be comparing an Audio Research Reference 3, an H-CAT P-12B, a BAT VK50SE, and a conrad-johnson MET1, their new 6-channel model. We'll have a great-sounding system (mine!) set up, and we intend to do the comparisons single-blind and level-matched. Guests are welcome; e-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net for more info.

Another Saturday meeting!

The Arizona Audio Video Club is proud to sponsor and introduce to Arizona the Zu Cable and Loudspeaker Company of Ogden, Utah. This four-hour demonstration will be on July 22nd at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9424 North 7th Ave. (just north of Hatcher), Phoenix, AZ 85021, from 2pm - 6pm. The program is open to the public and will provide a terrific opportunity to meet two of the really good guys in audio--Sean Casey and Adam Decaria. They will be bringing a full compliment of their offerings and some interesting amps including at least a couple SETs, an Atma-Sphere OTL, and an 8KW (!) Crown. Complete demonstrations will occur every hour, so come at anytime during those hours.

For more information about Zu, see the '6moons' feature on Zu at http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/zutour/zutour.html and visit their website at http://www.zucable.com. If you would like to attend or have questions, please feel free to contact either the club president, Jeffrey Behr, at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net or Dean Love at theloveman(at)cox(dot)net and let us know you are planning to attend. It should be great fun and very informative. Hope to see you there!
