I agree with you expensive experiments indeed. (but the yield can be equally rewarding)
My speakers are not good for soundstage anyway so that was not an issue for me. Tonality, timbre and dynamics was what mattered for me. Now I could not give that up. I can't say how many times I can tell what the instrument is now that I had no idea.
If Duelund VSF Copper (not heard Aluminum) had a weakness against other top poly caps they may not be quite as quiet. The CAST being designed for horns certainly are but I would have no idea how they compare on a soundstage basis.
