Songs this good don't come around every day.

With a name like Iris it’s got to be good. 😉  Seriously though, very nice song and thanks for sharing.  Gave it a listen on Qobuz where, not surprisingly, it sounds even better. 

Why do even her happier songs still make me feel sad?

Yeah Stuart, Iris' basic style is melancholy (which I deeply relate to, considering it a sensible view of life). But some of her stuff is quite joyous, and on stage she is quite humorous. A great live performer, with a grand style of piano playing and a very strong voice. I little like Maria Muldaur, dontcha think?
