Replacing AC cable on older amps and pre amps (Non IEC)

Has anyone ever upgraded power cables in an older amp to get a better AC connection?

Probably a really dumb question but can you purchase something inexpensive like a Pangea AC-14 and clip the IEC end off and install it into a high end (but vintage) non-IEC amplifier or pre amp without causing problems?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sure you can. As long as you know what you are doing and make sound, tidy and safe connections. I have found these to be much better than Pangea.
The BLE cable you referred to is far too inexpensive. What were you thinking? Man….
Sure, but why?

Get an isolation transformer and do it right.  Much more effective.
Good question. My preamp is from the 70's and the amp, late 90's. Both are quality pieces that I will be keeping but they do not have IEC inputs. Both have stock (Audio Research) cables on them.

I've upgraded IEC cables on other components and it made a HUGE effect on sound. I also added a Richard Gray Power Company box and that also made a HUGE improvement. Say what you will about those, I'm not going to be taking it out of the line. =)

I'm exploring what difficulty or problems I would run into by putting in new cables in the older pieces. I have no intention if installing IEC inputs on them, just new cables.
@wolf_garcia If you select the 10 gauge variant, the price goes up!

OP. Just make sure the new cable isn’t too thick for the small hole of older amps.
And make sure it is:
1. Not solid core.
2. Mains rated.
3. Grounded

also is your poeer amp also on the Ricard Grey or just the small stuff ?
noromance (really? none?)…anyway, I'm way into inexpensive well made stuff…actually I revel in that sort of thing, and I might actually buy one of those cables if only because they look pretty cool. Also, I've replaced AC cables in old guitar amps here and there as I hate being electrocuted (note also that you can't have electrocuted without "cute") and it's always worth it.
I've also been considering to replace the power cord on my vintage McIntosh amplifier but I don't see how it could be done without doing some surgery on the chassis and some disassembly of the unit. I'm looking for someone locally to do the conversion by installing a true IEC plug. Might affect the resale value but that's not a big consideration for me.
@wolf_garcia I was amazed at the improvement I got on my preamp by the switch to this over the supplied cord. Beats me why manufacturer doesn't supply it with these.
