NEW CA DACMagic+

Anyone have a take on this yet? I'm really curious. The ability to stream using bluetooth is VERY attractive.
For the headphone folk, you don't need anything but a source and some cans.
For the 'ask' I'm more than curious......

Been reading about it, and wondering how good is the headphone stage? Cambridge audio is also planning to release more models this year.
If you buy it, get the Pangea P100 power supply also (once it's available...they need a proper size P100 cable as the one supplied for the DACMagic won't fit the "plus"). I imagine it will be offered (from Audio Advisor) as a package deal although I bought P100s for my DACMagic and 650P phono pre from Amazon to save shipping fees. Based on all this, I'll likely buy the "plus" eventually although since I don't currently need the usb feature I'm in no hurry. You can read about the P100 in the new Stereophile.
If you buy a "plus", get the Pangea P100 power supply also (once it's available...they need a proper size P100 cable as the one supplied for the DACMagic won't fit the "plus"). These power supplies ROCK ASS (is that a sophisticated technical description?) so to speak. I imagine it will be offered (from Audio Advisor) as a package deal although I bought P100s for my DACMagic and 640P from Amazon to save shipping fees. Don't tell them. Based on all this, I'll likely buy the "plus" eventually although since I don't currently need the usb feature I'm in no hurry. You can read about the P100 in the new Stereophile. I'm still enamored of the DACMagic although the competition has heated up...nobody seems to make a DAC with the same variety of inputs and outputs and the P100 elevates the sound to a level comparable to stuff costing a LOT more. I encourage people to please buy the "plus" so I can get a used one eventually.
Well, Wof, I appreciate buying 'used' stuff. It can be quite the value.

I'm a long-term equipment owner, myself, however, not doing too much swap. My last sytem was stable for 20+ years, more or less.

I am making an adjustment in what I own based on adding the computer and the incompatiblity of my current CA840c with the AirportExpress optical out.

The CA DM+ adds the BlueTooth link which should mate fine with my iMac. The double inputs AND the 'extra' async USB give me plenty of flexibility going forward.
My PS3 will go into one optical, an OPPO upsampler into the other. Music will be streamed from my Mac via BlueTooth. IF I do anything going forward, it'll be to get a cheap PC, strip it out and turn it into a music server. That'll go into the USB. I may not need the BlueTooth after that? Or maybe internet Radio?

I think I could knock together a regulated PS of the appropriate voltage without too much difficulty. This is 'cookbook' stuff without too much remaining in the 'experimental' area so all I need do is follow the directions and look at some 'sample circuits'.
The advert states that "The world's best DAC just got even better!". So I guess it must be good. Better than the world's best. And for $649. Jeeez.
This forum printed my post twice in 2 modified versions implying that I'm far more adamant about these issues than I am. I know there are more expensive DACs out there that people enjoy immensely, but I don't care as I live in my sheltered safe little world where everything is wonderful all the time.
Does anyone know if Audio Advisor is trying to get, or has a cable for the Pangea P100 that fits the DACMagic Plus?

Their site doesn't specify a cable for the Plus.
I've called them about that some months ago, and they said they were waiting for a cable to be available for it...I suggest you call 'em to see what the status if that is, and report back!
I sent an email to sales asking about this, mentioning the different cable needed for the Plus. The response I got was:

"I am sorry to report that the PGP100 will not work with the DacMagic Plus."

As this is non-responsive, I guess I will have to call. This doesn't sould like they are interested in getting a different cable.
If my understanding is correct, there are major differences in the power supply between the original DacMagic and the Plus. One is AC and one is DC with a SMPS
That response is weirdly anti-sales business as you would think they'd want to sell a ton of P100s. By the way, somebody at Audio Advisor told me that the DACMagic is the best selling item they've EVER had. So none of this makes sense.
I inquired further. The individual kindly advised that: a more rigorous power supply may coming out for the Plus; and that this information was from higher up and not elaborated upon, even with additional questioning.

This information seems to dovetail with the idea of differences in the power supplies of the DacMagic and the Plus.

I'm not sure further inquiry at this time will yield useful information. Stay tuned.
Maybe they'll make a Pangea with a dimmer LED as that's my only P100 complaint (minor).
