The Generators are the third power amps in the rig since getting Magico A3’s 1.5 years ago. I also upgraded to the NAT Symmetrical Line Stage at the same time. The gear didn’t come without necessary repairs by my very competent tech.

The Generators weren’t balanced using XLR cables! One of the mono blocks was about 5-7dB quieter than the other one. Using RCA cables they were balanced! That was a real head scratcher! My tech had no problem figuring out the issue and they are perfectly balanced now! I’m using VeraStarr Grand Illusion silver foil XLR cables between the line stage and power amps and they sound simply amazing!

The Symmetrical would go into protection mode randomly. Sometimes within 1/2 hour of listening other times 3-4 hours into the listening session. I noticed that a very light tap on the unit would also send it into protection mode. Simply turning the volume knob would take it out of protection mode but once I discovered a light tap reproduced the issue, off it went to the shop as well. It turned out that there were a number of cold solder joints in the unit.

Everything has been working flawlessly since getting them back from the shop! This gear has taken the rig to a high end level. The A3s are finally singing like I heard them in the demonstration!

The Generators are probably the last amps I’ll buy. 150 watts per channel in triode sounds incredible! They’re very smooth, detailed and rich sounding. I’m really digging the rig!

This thread is a decade old but new to me.

A pair of the Generator mono blocks will soon be on their way. They haven't been used for at least four years. The pictures I've seen of them seem to confirm that as there was a substantial layer of dust on them! The previous owner has an outstanding reputation in the HiFi community. He told me that he moved on from them as his reference amps for more power. He's going to go through them inside and out before sending them to me. He said he was never inspired to sell them.

This will be my first experience using high-end used gear.

The decision to try something different was sparked by listening to a friend's system for an extended period of time. While listening to my system the next day it hit me in the face that I wasn't getting near the potential from my speakers. My system sounded like an AM transistor radio to me! (Well maybe not quite that bad.) But it was obvious that I could use a lot more power.

The previous owner gave me a 100% guarantee! Send them back if I don't like them. But he said that I won't be sending them back!

This should be fun!

No but I own the SE2SE amp and they are built very well nice point to point wire and the sound is just wonderful . The 211 tubes have a very nice sound and drive my North Creek Manifest speakers to the best sound I have ever had in my system . I have had many amps and tried a few from audio buddies the NAT is the best so far . I also would like to here some of there bigger amps and preamps I am sure glad I took a chance and picked up a pair from audiogon a couple of months ago .
