Visited a Store and was shunned
Did you call ahead of time to set up an appointment? If you had and told them what you were interested in and your intent, I'm sure they would have fawned all over you and perhaps had a hot pizza and some red wine to consume during a break in the ...
Jay's barbecue - disinvited
Food or drink is not allowed in my listening room. My aging dog once dropped a poop in there which was unusual because they aren’t allowed upstairs in our home. Poor girl was desperate to go and we weren’t home to let her out. I really miss her.
Yamaha A-S1200 + KEF R3 Meta + KEF KC62 — Good Match?
It's been about seven years since I've had a Yamaha integrated in the main rig. I wrote this post before realizing that I had the A-S3000 not the A-S1000 which compares to your A-S1200. However hopefully you will still be able to glean some insigh...
Mono Blocks / why are they not more prevalent? + Wyrded4Sound SX1000R
Mono blocks sound better than non mono blocks. They just do. They generate a much wider, in depth soundstage. Once you hear it, it's hard to go back. Sort of like hearing a great tube amp compared to solid state. Tubes just sound better than solid...
I want to upgrade my Turntable to something heavier
Getting a heavier tt/plinth will improve the sonics for sure. Solving the rumble and vibration issue can be more of a trial and error endeavor.  I used a wall mounted tt shelf with my vintage rig when I had a tube tuner without a case stacked on ...
AXPONA Chicago April 10-12, 2026 - Who is going??
@hilde45, One of OCD Mikey's videos caught me at the right time in my hifi journey a number of years ago. I was in the exact spot he was speaking about regarding having nice gear that sounded like turds. I was frustrated and unsure how to fix what...
AXPONA Chicago April 10-12, 2026 - Who is going??
@hilde45, I just watched the video. I loved it! I was laughing my ___ off! True Mikey no doubt. I find his opinions honest Some of them may offend some people. I like that he cuts through all the BS. I've been down to see him in Atlanta a couple o...
I asked ChatGPT about me and my posts...
I asked a different question because it just happened to me again: When I was about 12-14 I used to be able to hear when a tube television was turned on somewhere in the house because I heard a high pitched sound when it was turned on. I’m 61 ...
Amp-preamp, Integrated paring with Magico A3
I’ve had the A3’s for a number of years now. The best amp combination I’ve used is the NAT Audio Symmetrical Balanced Line Stage pre and NAT Audio Magma M monoblocks.  Initially I had a Yamaha A-S3000 integrated, then put in a Dynaco PAS-3X pre, ...
High Value Phono Stages
I see a couple of Herron VTPH-2a users have moved on to different phono stages. I use the VTPH-2a. A couple of years ago Keith called me and asked if I was still interested in his phono stage? Previously he told me that he was done making the VTPH...
Granite Slabs
@goose Nice system! Your rack looks similar to mine. I love the way my rig sounds. However when you add something new is when you realize it could sound better or not. If I do anything, I’ll probably go with Magico A pods for my A3’s. I have thei...
Granite Slabs
So what is best to do if you have carpet on the 2nd floor of a wood framed house? I have the spikes in the carpet without the little disks that go under the spikes. I’d been considering A-pods but haven’t done anything yet.
What Does 80 Grand Get You Nowadays?
I haven’t read this whole thread, just some of the first page. I can respond to a couple of points made.  First, the guy who said "buy the speakers first then use matched pre and power amps" is the strategy that I’ve found to pay dividends.  The...
Steely Dan albums
I love the original AB 1006 pressing of Aja. After watching a video from Mike of  “The In Groove” I searched a Cisco pressing of Aja. He said it was the best sounding, the AB 1006 second best sounding.  After buying a NM copy and listening to it ...
Listening to other audiophiles rigs will help to accelerate your journey to audio nirvana!
@sns I feel similar to your thoughts regarding listening to other people’s systems when it comes to attending shows.  I attended AXPONA this year, the first show I ever attended. I ended up staying all three days. Mostly to hang out with friends....
