Furutech connector issue

A couple of my Furutech CF-601F will not 'click' when inserted. Can anyone elucidate please as to why?

Some XLR sockets can sometimes be too deep for the Furutech female plug. I normally grind down the outside shell maybe 1mm or 2mm using a belt or random orbit sander so that the “plug” part can extend further into the socket and allow the button latch to “click” into place.
