I do a listening session in listening session August each year where I invite folks in we drink a few and eat and listen to some tunes. 

I would live to meet you guys. I’m in uptown Dallas.

It was awesome meeting all of you. We don’t have a tight audiophile community in South Florida. You all have a great thing going but the most important thing are the people that make up your group. I loved meeting each and everyone of you.
Who knows , maybe Texas is where I might end up…

Big amps, big speakers, big trucks are all things  I am attracted to and the lonestar state is also a big space that can really help take my business to the next level. 

 

3/16/24 - SWAF Day 2 Saturday:

We had a very good dinner at Fogo De Chao Dallas. About 33 were there including Jay of Jays Audio Lab and Ron Resnick co-owner of Whatsbestforum.

Many memories I won’t soon forget.

The group has become just a group of very good friends over time.

If you haven’t already done so, go visit SouthWest Audio Fest tomorrow! Show your support so that organizers bring it back next year! Lots of major high end brands are present and some are in very generously sized and well setup rooms. It will be a great way to spend your Sunday amongst some of the best audio equipment out there and you don’t even need to get on a plane!

I will schedule the next meeting after I recover from the holidays.

Didn't know it's been almost 6 months since the last post.  A audiophile just reached out to me so it reminded me of this thread. 

The club is still going strong, actually it's bigger and more eventful than before. 

We are at about 100, with about 50 who are very active.  

We meet every 1-2 months and frequently communicate outside of the forums.

Hi All,

I'm a Dallas semi-audiophile- Certainly not a purist, but do appreciate upgraded sound over mass market. 

For years, I've been running my B&W 683's off an old Denon AVR (2310)... 

I'm music 70%, TV/movies 30%... Music typically listened to on vinyl or higher-quality digital played over wifi via Chromecast audio. 

It's time to upgrade my music listening experience... I'm thinking a decent stereo amp + an upgraded receiver should get me where I want to go... But I need some help. 

Would anyone be open to a quick consulting gig to help me out? I would go into an audio store with this ask but don't want to be "sold" anything... Really looking for more budget, even used equipment...

Thought I'd reach out to some local experts.

the club is a close knit group, we look out for each other, we talk daily, and we meet in each other’s homes.  I’m not just letting some random in without vetting them.  So thanks for making it easy.

Many more meets will be set up for this year.

I'm looking for people with high end 2 channel gear, people who are into meeting up and participating.  We have a membership of around 70 members, about 40 are very active.  I need to thin out the herd over time and really start keeping those who enjoy meeting and not just the idea of meeting.

I'm not sure if this will reach you, but I'll try...I think I'm interested in getting together with folks that enjoy listening to music.  (I might be considered an audiophile - someone who listens to music without multi-tasking.)  I'm in the north Collin County area & have a reasonably good 2-channel system.  (Certainly no high-brow stuff though.) I joined a while back but have never actually met any of you I don't think. 

I'm in Southlake.  When things calm down hopefully we can get things going.  COVID and work from home has resulted in a lot vintage gear and records making its way into my spare bedroom/office.  In the last 2 years I've flipped from a lot of audiophile gear to single ended gear and analog sourcing.  Vintage speakers, etc.

Love it but miss some of the qualities of the audiophile world so hope I get to listen to something different sometime in the near future.

A little on the downlow for now because of covid, but we will come back strong shortly.  We tried to have a live meet in September but could not push through because of covid resurgence.  Hopefully we can have live meets soon again.
