Coda vs Parasound

Anyone possibly have experience with the Coda #8 vs the Parasound JC5 ? Any thoughts appreciated. Possibly considering one of these 2 to replace my current amp which is fine but growing old,....

@speedthrills I hear what you’re saying but reviews come at a steep cost nowadays. Maybe Coda already has enough customers where they don’t feel the need. Perhaps that’s why they can offer more for less? Just sayin’

@speedthrills I can answer this question. I live 15 minutes away from the Coda office in Sacramento and have spoken to Doug Dale a few times in his office and asked this very question to him. Ever heard the expression PAY TO PLAY? The big Audiophile magazines need money from advertisers because they make nothing from subscriptions. IMHO, they prioritize reviews based on the companies who pay them the most money. With my conversation with Doug he said Coda was approached by one of these magazines a number of years ago and it was made very clear to them that money would need to change hands for advertising for reviews to happen.

This would be very difficult for a small boutique company to do. As far as I know Coda only has 4 employees. Doug Dale, the two younger guys who assemble the amps and their engineer who does the designs. All of their products are made in their small office. It’s really unfortunate but when reading these magazines you have to remember their RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS are just from things they have actually reviewed and doesn’t mean they are the best. Also like @arafiq says they are comfortable with the amount of business they do now. Much of their current business is from overseas.

@speedthrills   - Since you brought up the criticism on 2 threads I'll re-post what I did on the other one

Aside from Terry London's (teajay's) reviews below are some others over the years provided by Google

@facten Thanks for the links. I learned a few things about Coda in these reviews. What's amazing is the newest review you listed is 7 years old. Considering how good their amplifiers are it is pretty amazing they don't have more current reviews.

Lots of votes for the Coda.

1 more vote for the Coda s5.5, speaking as an owner. That treble is to die for. If you know you know. Saxophone sounds especially magnificent. Metallic yet smooth with unusual clarity for a class A.

Forgive my small pool of experience, all the mid tier class A I've heard sounds great but lacking in treble clarity among other things. Not the Coda S5.5!!

It's also very cool for a class A. Rehular room temp. Say 70F, the Coda will barely get warm after multiple hours.
