Bat VK-D5SE Owners

i have the opportunity to buy this cdp and am sitting on the fence on this one...i need to hear from those audiogoners that either own one or have owned a vk-dse...what can you tell me about this cdp compared to other cdps at or near its price point (new and used)...the player i am considering is a consignment piece locally and is priced about $2800, which seems fair to me
on consignment, i won't be able to bring it home (unless i buy it) and place it in my system, hence the hesitation and cry for help...does the bat do more with 20 bits, its 4 dacs, uncluttered output and 6h30 super tubes than the other 24bit, up/over/super-duper sampling cdps?

given that it is BAT i expect top shelf build and performance, but still wonder if i should give stronger consideration to the 24bit/196khz players (emc, cary, etc) that i may find. my cd collection is entirely redbook and i have not the itch or want to enter the hi-rez world yet since that would entail an even costlier software investment

check my virtual system if you care to better understand my situation
if i have forgotten anything, let me know and i can post more information if need be

thanks to all in advance

HI IN AM IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING ONE DELIVERED .
MY QUESTION IS HOW WOULD YOU RATE BETWEEN MUSICAL FIDELITY TRIVISTA,AUDIO AERO CAPITOL AND THE AUDIO NOTE DAC 3.1 BALANCED.
THEY ALL ADD UP TO THE SAME MONEY PLUS MINUS $1000.
i have owned it for 3 years and love it . Many models have come and gone in an attempt to replace it from Classe to Acoustic Research , to Linn but there is something so incredibly seductive about its lush , rich soundfield that I just will not part with it. It is a tricky beast as it fully opens up after a good hour or so after firing it up and it took a year to break in in my opinion. The Absolute Sound took a shot at it by claiming it was dark and restricted in the upper spectrum and I guess they have a point but I personally crave wading sonically through its deep textured soundstage.Audio is a romantic endeavour and synergy is a chemical bond that can expose a tradgey or unearth a dream come true . Audiogone members like Mike Lavigne take great pains to insure the matching of each component in his chain is harmonious and conclusive . We all have our own paths and as suggested above , audition it in your own system first. You just may be swept away like I still am.
D5 Se is an excellent cd player. It was natural Number 1 choice for my all-BAT system.
If you want 24/whatewer upsampling in your CD player, BAT has an upgrade for $800.
However, I would not buy it without home audition especially if you are planning to use it with single-ended preamp.
Secondly I would hesitate to deal with dealer who knows that you are serious about this piece and still wouldn’t let you to audition a consignment equipment.
Thirdly I would try to audition Resolution Audio Opus21 player. It’s $3000 new and they have 30-day return policy if you buy direct.
Good luck.
IHMO the BAT while vey good places third on my list of CDPs, Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista second and the EMC-1 first.
