AUDIOGON MAY HAVE BEEN HACKED

I received an email from Audiogon this morning that I had purchased an item at 11:54 pm last night. I was asleep at that time and made no purchase.

I have notified the seller and disputed the transaction with Audiogon.

There is no activity in my PayPal or other accounts related to this error.

...if you noticed, not too many items for sale there anymore compared to prior days. 
good thing to know and good thing to void using as a sale media.
they've improved development crew, but they need to work on security and find savvy security admin.

Audiogon support very quickly reversed the transaction and reinstated the seller's ad. All is well, and the unwelcome stress from an erroneous $5,800 purchase is slowly fading.

No offence to any of customer service. It's just poor information security and some other site imperfections.

If you have a credit card on file @ A’Gon I would cancel it as well.

It would seem that, @ a minimum, the hacker obtained your password and one can only wonder what other info was obtained as well.

The Internet is the last bastion of liberty. Anyone caught hacking or cheating anyone else out of their property should get a minimum of 20 years in prison if convicted. Free markets are too precious to be given up to crooks.
