are magico better than electrostatic

magico speakers do not eliminate rear wave energy. They contain it inside a box where it bounces around and much of it comes out the cone. Also being a multi way speaker it splits the signal up into parts then tries to combine them again. This is never going to be as good as having a driver that can actually produce full range perfectly, which currently doesn't exist.

So how good really is magico? how would it compare with the perfect speaker if it existed?

what makes a magico that much better than an average speaker such as ATC?

This is a silly thread, while I'm no Magico fanboy, the premise and attack here is hard for me to take seriously.

Why question 1 brand vs. an entire technology?

Why not "Are ESL's ever going to be as popular as box speakers?"
Or "Why don't ESL's fix their back wave problem? "
The problem with magico is its an expensive speaker but it doesnt solve the main problem of rear energy absorption.

The OP has yet to prove this is a problem. It's a design feature.

Of course, another comparison would be open baffle multi-way speakers to ESLs.

Easier to achieve a smooth frequency response and dynamic power handlng, with much of the same room interaction and lack of issues with the enclosure.

I think the OP's prejudices are not borne out in listening or science.

ESL's superiority comes from it's lack of interaction with the room at distance.

The trade offs are often dynamic range, smooth frequency response, off-axis listening and lack of distortion, which a good multi-way, dynamic system can easily accomplish.

To dismiss multi-way speakers, and praise ESL's that way is a very subjective point of view, and he is oddly equating one brand of dynamic drivers (Magico) as representing all, while talking about all ESL's, which is also completely impossible to make a comparison to.

A better place to start would be to compare 2 specific models around the same price point and ask where the value is best.
