Hbarrel Hey you are welcome and the night was fun as always. As I had mentioned I have finished up many summer and fall (necessary) house projects. Now it’s time for music listening again.
Anyone interested in an audio get together in Northest Ohio?
Planning an audio get together in early March 2023 in the Cuyahoga Falls area of Ohio. Anyone interested in coming? I have met a few cool friends, milpai, mike d, cris, jeff g and josh a few months back. Gonna try to have a go at another GTG at my place...if schedule(s) can align.
Thank you @2psyop for handling the grunt work in putting together a casual meet. It was a very enjoyable gathering. |
I have texted or contacted as many of you as I can about our meeting. We are the Northeast Ohio Audio Group and I will remind everyone we are meeting tomorrow Sat Nov 1. 6:30 pm at Rocknes in Cuyahoga Falls. I will get the table and will be wearing a Crimson Hoodie and cap with Jazz printed on it. I have met most everyone but in case you drop by and have not met me, name is William. See you all there! |
Ok gentlemen I am planning another meet and greet for Saturday (Nov 1st) at 6:30pm at Rockne's in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.. Friday is Halloween so that day was not going to work. I am hoping everyone can make it and we can begin some fall music sessions. I have been to invited to listen to some of you guy's new systems and they sound fabulous. If everything works out we can have a volunteer for the first listening session at our meet and greet. I will contact everyone by messaging but as you know Audiogon does not let personal things get through, so I may reach out via phone message. Happy Listening. |
@hbarrel You always win a t-shirt! Congratulations on your straight shooting! |
Update for September 19th audio meet and greet in Northeast Ohio. So you guys have made this group fun and successful. It can be done and it’s be tons of fun. My most recent example was last night. As I had indicated many members had to cancel or just couldn’t make the Sept 19th (Friday) meet and greet at Rocknes restaurant in Cuyahoga Falls, Oh. Cool and it’s fine because I will organize another one in the Fall. But mcgal reached out to me and said “Hey I would like to participate in the group”. So he invited me to his home in Twinsburg for an impromptu listening session last night! He and his wife were so gracious and he has moved down to Ohio from upstate NY. So very cool. Anyway we had a blast and he has an outstanding system with killer speakers. Jazz and easy listening female vocalists and much more music. He has some Luxman gear which I admit I had never heard. Very nice time and thanks again mcgal, what a wonderful time we had. So we are both looking forward to keep the ball rolling and many more exchanges of great artists and great music. Keep tuned and we will plan another event. |
Well guys it turns out most of the thread attendees here cannot make this Friday 19 Sept for the meet and greet. I will still be going for anyone who can still come BUT I will add another invite in the Fall so keep following the thread if you so desire. My name is William and I have a black Tshirt with Mantua Hardware logo should you come and partake of food and drink. Happy Listening. |
Ok gentlemen we are going to set a date, place and time for a Northeast Ohio meet and greet and maybe we can set a date for the first Fall audio get together. The place will be Rocknes in Cuyahoga Falls on 1203 Bailey Road on Sept. 19th at 6:30pm. For anyone coming from a further distance 7pm is just fine. There are at least 4-5 people interested and I will be sending PM to some members here. Should be fun and you can grab some food too. For sure, let me know here if you plan on coming. The previous audio get togethers we have had this year have been very cool and lots of fun. |
Mcgal and everyone else.. Yes we have a fun audio group! So far it’s been a blast. But it might be the right time (Fall) for another meet and greet. Good time for anybody to see if they want to join up and …it’s work well in the past. The last time we did this was Rocknes in Cuyahoga Falls. I will come up with some days to pick very soon. Probably a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. That gives everyone a chance to come. If we can swing it, we can decide on the next host. Stay tuned and let me know if you are interested. |
I have to agree that it was a good get together. Lots of good conversation and music. @2psyop was a gracious host and his room set up was interesting in a good way. It certainly maximizes the space available and allows multiple flavors of sound. It was good to meet members @milpai and @hbarrel and hearing about their set ups. I am looking forward to getting together again for another listening session. |
@2psyop , Indeed it was a fun session listening to your 4+ systems! You have a great spouse who remembers the model of the first receiver you purchased after engagement. Man that was a great story. I am baffled by the number of components you own. Finally got to listen to the Tetons and was impressed by the music they made. Nice to meet @csmgolf, learn about his system and experiences. He shared some nice songs on the CDs he got. Overall a very nice get together and I thoroughly enjoyed the company. |
Thanks @hbarrel Yeah we had a great time again in listening session #3. Csmgolf from the older Erie audio group (circa 2019) came east to join us. Very cool and it’s great to invite him into the fold. He has lots of knowledge and experience and fun to talk with. The participants were milpai, hbarrel, csmgolf, and myself. Apparently we are all lucky with the great systems we have and have adopted a gentlemanly way of getting together and enjoying the music and conversation. Imagine that. Good times and thanks to everyone who came by. |
We had a wonderful gathering @2psyop abode. He is a lucky man. His wonder spouse allows him to have a listening room. Rather unique setup. He has two sets of speakers. And two systems for each set of speakers. Thank you William. |
I was in a different group with @2psyop and would be interested in being a part of this group and meeting others and see / hear their systems. |
You are welcome! It was a great evening and I was glad that you guys were able to listen to my system and provide feedback. My ultimate moment was when @hbarrel sarted clapping at the end of one song. He was so engrossed in the performance!! Thank You both for sharing new music and great conversation. Looking forward to hearing your system(s) @2psyop |
Well we have had our second audio listening session and milpai was the host this round. I can say it was another great time listening to truly marvelous equipment and milpai was accommodating and gracious. Thanks milpai! I kept thinking about the song "Listen to the Music" by the Doobie Brothers because despite the ever changing gear (which always comes and goes)... the fun part of the audiophile brotherhood is wonderful music, great conversation and also building some cool friendships. Sometimes the gear sounds sublime and exquisite... but above all the music is the fuel and we three have been listening to of all kinds of music during our audio sessions- bluegrass, soul, blues, pop, electronic music, classic rock, folk, jazz and some artists that are more obscure or hard to define. Exploring music and sharing that experience makes if a blast for me. So @hbarrel and @milpai thanks alot for the ride. You guys are teaching me about your hifi knowledge and I am also enjoying the musical journey. Very cool. |
@hbarrel I am looking forward to host you and @2psyop later this week. It is always good to hear different systems, get the owner’s perspective, and then look for improvement opportunities in your own system. I like the "open layout" that you have - because it gives the music, some room to bloom. I don’t have that choice. So let’s see if that works for you guys. |
Let’s hope our experience in Northeast Ohio can spark other audio get togethers in other areas- anywhere audiophiles can talk and enjoy music together. There is so much to share and learn from each other, even if it’s just sharing artists and songs. We have a good small group here but I know there are others just like us that could expand their own musical journeys. @hbarrel and @milpai- I too really enjoyed talking with you guys. I agree, so many ways to get great high fidelity sound. |
