another what amp?

Current
Accuphase preamp mid seventies rebuilt very clean sound

Rega RP1 w/ Ortofon Blue
Rega Apollo R / Rega DAC on order
Vandersteen 2ce's bi wired
Vandersteen 2W sub

Listen to Jazz 50% of time, Blues 30%, Classic Rock rest of time.

What would another amp give me in this scenario. Budget up to 1200 for right amp.

Unfortunately I cant go anywhere and audition amps. The dealer near me (2 hours) only stocks tubes then I am 5 hours to next high end shop.

It might help if you briefly describe your current sound, and what you would like to improve.
This would be an elegantly substantial sonic difference IMO.

I know your speakers well. I have the 2's and the 3's myself. The 2's are very revealing speakers. All things considered, I think you will hear a bigger difference if you get a new preamp instead. Also, if you can, I would reconsider the Rega DAC. Its good, but I don't know if it will be that much of an improvement over your Apollo. If you can find a good deal on something like an Ayre K5, it will make a huge difference in sound quality. If it were me, I would combine the money you currently have with what you are going to spend on the DAC and put it all toward the preamp. Down the road, you can follow up by getting something like an Ayre V5 to match the preamp.
