It's October and I was feeling nostalgic. I used to love the annual Audio "bible". I used to start at the back and look for all the Used ads (of course Audiogon is so much better now). You could count on Anthony Cordesman raving about the latest A...
Which speakers excel at low volume?
For what ever it's worth I always thought Quads and Spicas were good in this regard.
CJ Premier 17LS vs Sonic Frontier Line 3
Though they both have tubes, they're different. Whats the rest of your system like and what are you hopeing to achieve?
A real dumb Tube question
Ed, are they the authors of "How to serve man"?

Clueless, brilliant!
Good Amp for Spica TC-60 speakers under $1000
I second the Forte nomination. You could even bi-amp with two of them bought used, and still stay within your budget.

Dave, thank you so much !!! Stuff like this could actually make me grow out of 2 channel. Very good news indeed.
The Front End is Done. Upgrade Speaker Ideas
I think your on the right track. The Thiel 3.6's might be a bit too much for your rooom, the 2.4's might be just the ticket.

The only times I've enjoyed a center channel is when it matched the other two channels, was appropriatley set up and was playing recordings that had a discrete center channel in the mix. I'm surprised Mercury hasn't rereleased their vast originaly...

I've never heard a properly set up Ambisonics system. Has anyone here? If so would you please describe your impressions? How might it compare to this?
