Townshend Springs under Speakers
FWIW here is another reference to using the Podiums with Magico speakers:vac_man13 posts06-29-2021 12:39pmI just recently replaced Isoacoustic Gaias under my Magico A3's with the Townshend Podiums, and I must say, the results have been astonishing...
Townshend Springs under Speakers
Couldn't find the Wilson reference, but this review is with Magico S7s which are at the edge of the art for cabinet construction:https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/review-townshend-audio-speaker-podiums
Townshend Springs under Speakers
@charles1dad not sure if it was this thread or the other Townshend thread, but there was a Wilson speaker owner who found the Podiums a profound improvement over spikes.I think Wilson would fall into the 'inert cabinet' group, so I think that bust...
Boy, Oh Boy! Towshend!
@benzmanYes, getting the size 4 podiums, the SCM100 towers come in at 68kg and have a fairly large footprint.Have increased anticipation with all the strong endorsements.
Boy, Oh Boy! Towshend!
goose520 posts08-20-2021 12:27amI compared the gliders to the podiums and agree with millercarbonThat's good to hear, I'm looking forward to receiving my Podiums (waiting on shipment from UK).
Opinion on SME 15
@dover Thanks for the input but I've moved on since this discussion from 2019.Decided against the turntable upgrade since an increasing amount of my listening was via streaming. The ready access to such a vast amount of music is hard to resist. My ...
Boy, Oh Boy! Towshend!
Haha - hope so.I actually had a better reaction to the Herbies footers than the Isoacoustics Gaia 1 footers - though I didn't have them together at the same time for a more contemporaneous comparison.
Boy, Oh Boy! Towshend!
I've ordered some Townshend Podiums for my ATC SCM100ASL towers. Will be interested to hear how they improve on the Herbies Giant Gliders I'm currently using. The Podiums need to impress at >10 times the cost of the Herbies footers.
Welcome Back!
I'm an ATC owner and fan of the 3" mid dome. Must be doing something right as it's been used, with various refinements, in ATC's 3-way speakers for the past 45 years!Volt speakers make a superficially similar 3" dome though the flange profile (and...
I have a macbook pro going into a benchmark DAC - what's the best upgrade path?
I own the Benchmark DAC3L and for the last few years have been using a 2012 Mac Mini as server powered by a Uptone JS2 LPS. The usb output from the Mini was connected to the DAC3 via an iFi micro usb3 - which I believed would be sufficient to isol...
Has Roon’s native engine caught up to HQPlayer?
After writing the above I went back and had another listen to HQPlayer using my preferred settings of poly-sinc-long-lp, PCM upsampling only. The focus and transient clarity was simply excellent and very addictive - I listened for hours last night ...
What does Roon give me beyond just Tidal HiFi?
I reinstalled 1.8 updated software and tied into Qobuz I have to say it is so much better musically and quite up to the cPlay software sonically . Yes, I think Roon 1.8 has excellent sound quality. I previously used HQPlayer with Roon as I wasn...
Has Roon’s native engine caught up to HQPlayer?
@reg19, I agree that Roon upsampling loses a bit of clarity (bass seems more effected) compared to no upsampling - though images can sound sharpened somewhat in terms of focus. I've had a hot and cold attitude to HQP PCM upsampling. I've found in ...
Has Roon’s native engine caught up to HQPlayer?
I know a lot of people swear by DSD upscaling. I tried it with a few (inexpensive) dacs that supported up to DSD256 but it did nothing for me compared to PCM. Maybe better dacs with more powerful PC would have been different, but I haven't got muc...
Has Roon’s native engine caught up to HQPlayer?
reg1919 posts02-19-2021 11:06amA resounding no.HQPlayer sounds way better than Roon.I've been a fan of HQPlayer with Roon, though only using it for PCM upsampling using the 'poly-sinc-long-lp' filter mostly. After updating to Roon 1.8 I'm finding R...
