An upgrade ? From Sonus Faber to Harberh speaker
I have owned both C7ES2 and C7ES3, they are quite different in balance. The ES2 is much more laid back in perspective with the treble sounding a bit muted. The ES3 is more neutrally balanced and lively sounding, a much better speaker IMO.
First impressions of the Isoacoustic Gaia 1’s
If I got the Townsend Platforms, would I remove my steel plate and sit it on their steel plate? I wouldn't as the outriggers provide lateral stability for the Reference 5. The podiums only have a small amount of lateral movement, but I'd feel ...
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
The differences are subtle, but it does improve clarity in the mids and highs. Bass notes are rendered with a bit more texture.  I don't find the difference (to the stock 3mm rubber mat) subtle at all.  I like  how the clarity extends to instru...
How do you arrange the order of your records?
No-one mentioned 'autobiagraphical'? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQvOnDlql5g
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
FWIW, I received my replacement Achromat and it's perfectly flat. Sounds great on my Technics G. As with the GR the Achromat enhances midrange clarity, focus and separation of instruments/voices compared to the stock rubber mat - sounds really po...
Opinions on Audioengine speakers?
I had an older (non wireless) pair of  Audio Engine A2s in my garage gym - they produced great sound totally at odds with their size. Was using a Topping DX3 Dac/pre for remote control and blutooth connection to my phone. Unfortunately my daughter...
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
the achromat on my technics seemed to blur and cancel bass notes, reduce their sharpness and impact and fog the midrange. That was not my experience with the GR.
Hi Fi news test LP destroying my Apheta 3 cartridge + another cheap cartridge (another TT)
@triskadecaphobic  Diamond tip and wire remains Are you saying the stylus embedded into a pit on the record surface and detached from the cantilever? Exactly where did the wire come from?
New Audio Technica
From specs alone, the ART 20 seems to be a super version of ART9, not more, not less. Yes, the generator appears to be similar. The use of Titanium in the body and a rubber compound for the under part of the cartridge seems to hark back to the ...
Technics SL 1200GR with What Cartridge???
I used the Ortofon 2M Black on a 1200GR, later upgrading it to the 2M LVB 250 stylus, sounded very good on the GR and exploited the neutrality and dynamics of the deck. I use the 2M LVB on my 1200G now. FWIW Technics seem to have some relationship...
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
If its the 7mm APM you may be better off as I believe that has a glass substate that I'd expect to be flat. The lipped 5mm version I had for my 1200GR was flat and very good sounding IMO - so I think you'll enjoy the results with your GR. The one...
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
Something further regarding my dish-warped Achromat. I just read the blurb sheet that came in the cardboard sleeve and it says this: Occasionally uneven cooling results in minor warping. Like tyres, regrettably the material does not respond to be...
New Funk Firm Achromat Warped
Seems there is still a problem with warped Funk Achromats - just received a 5mm version for my SL1200G and warped so only contacting the platter around the inner part of the mat. The mat was shipped in a cardboard sleeve, though this looks like a ...
Please Help T3F problems
@scotchboy said: My preference is to fix the T3F. I know it sounds fantastic on my system You’ve done remarkably well to keep a T3F in service all these years. As I recall back around the mid 80's when Harry Pearson had the Goldmund tables in ...
Turntable upgrade recommendations: SME vs AMG vs Technics vs other
@drbond  Maybe you should consider yourself lucky that you ended up with the Model 30. Err, did he? Thought he went with the Dohmann Helix?
