Gutwire Perfect Grounding Cable
Any review in 6Moons is suspect.  The publisher is very open about his "pay to play" business model.  Any company wanting a review has to pay for it.  So reviews in 6Moons are just another form of paid advertising.  I am not saying other webzines ...
Thoughts on Aimee Mann....
"Lost in Space" is where I got started with Aimee Mann.  Unfortunately I only have her music on two LPs---Lost in Space and Bachelor No. 2.  The rest are on CDs and while her CDs actually sound very good I just don't hook up my digital gear very o...
Thoughts on Aimee Mann....
At the club Aimee was in a duo, but at the theater venue she had her full band.  I prefer the fuller, more complex sound with the full band.  Your post motivated me to play my MFSL record of Bachelor No. 2.  It really is a great album and one I ha...
Thoughts on Aimee Mann....
I have seen her live twice---once in a small theater venue (300 seats) and more recently at the 9:30 Club in DC (standing only).  Musically both were awesome nights.  Sonically the small venue was superior.  But for sheer sound quality I would tak...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Johnny Lytle "Moon Child" in glorious mono.
VPI is bringing back the Magic Brick!
I had a VPI Magic Brick way back when.  I tried it on all sorts of things, preamps, power amps, CD players, FM tuner, and in lots of different locations on top of each component, and I never found a single instance where it improved the sound.  Th...
When and what was your last significant equipment upgrade?
Jond, my cabinets are natural maple with walnut slats on front.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, but I think they look really nice.  Their appearance reminds me of my old Martin Logan CLS.  They also sound really nice!  I am sure y...
When and what was your last significant equipment upgrade?
Jond.  Well, that wasn't my speaker you heard since mine were not finished until after your visit.  However, mine are probably pretty similar to what you heard at Vu's store.  They use a YL Acoustic (Yoshimura Labs) horn and compression driver fro...
When and what was your last significant equipment upgrade?
New speakers from Deja Vu Audio delivered two weeks ago.  They are fairly large open baffle speakers with vintage drivers: Jensen 15" woofer, YL Acoustic compression driver and horn, and Electro-Voice horn tweeter.
Jetrexpro's music on YouTube
I enjoyed listening to it.  Thanks for sharing.
Tri-Planar Vll "SE Upgrade"
Yes, the damping trough was removable on the VII without affecting the armrest.  I didn't realize that had changed.
Tri-Planar Vll "SE Upgrade"
Peter,That sounds like a good idea.  Stability is always important.  I noticed your Triplanar still has the damping trough.  If you are not actually using the trough, you should try removing it from the arm.  I did that a number of years ago and w...
Harbeth SLH5 plus. Top or bottom binding post?
Ryder,Thanks for posting the Chord recommendation which is exactly what I described above.  Chord even used the same word "coherent" to describe the sonic benefits of this type of wiring.  Funny!
Mills MRA two types of different brand ?
The older Mills 12w (shiny black) has a bit more detail and has fast, clean high frequencies and is slightly lean in the upper bass although it has tight, powerful deep bass.  They also have a slight edginess in the highs.  The newer version (dull...
Mills MRA two types of different brand ?
The older 12w Mills have black bodies; the newer version has a brown body.  Both sound good but I prefer the older ones.
