Need Help
Is there a loud buzz with no CD changer connected and just the receiver turned on and set to FM? If so the problem is in the receiver.
How are the Classical music XRCDs?
I recently bought two Reiner recordings that I also own as Living Stereo CD's and original vinyl. The detail and clarity of the XCRD's is incredible.
Need advice on what is a good A/C enhancer.
I would like to emphasize the importance of Seans excellent description. My neigborhood has the first residential underground power distribution system dating from 1922. While the local utility has been piecemeal upgrading it, my power could be us...
Most beautiful violin recording you have heard
For Gregm on emphasizing the beauty of the pieces, Milstein and Sitkovetsky, Bach Sonatas and Partitas. I would also check out Fritz Kreisler, the recent transfers are decent and he certainly emphasized beauty of tone. The reference perfomance of ...
Strategies for preserving tube life
The characteristics of the particular tube matters. In my experience, for example, 6922s wear out when left on continuously but good NOS 12AX7 tubes don't. Unless you can find a specific reference to you tube type I would suggest turning it off ba...
Most beautiful violin recording you have heard
On beauty alone, Brahms Double Concerto -- Oistrakh , Rostropovich, Szell.
Law of Diminishing Returns; where does it kick in?
In addition to personal preference, I believe that it depends on what music you are trying to reproduce. We hear live classical music once or twice a week. We have Opera, Symphony and chamber music series tickets in the center section all around r...
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
To Ezmeralda: OK so for Dakajiba with a budget of around $500 he could get a used Jolida 302 with upgraded tubes, an NAD or a ST-70/PAS combo. Any other specific recommendations?
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
In various secondary systems over the last two years I have had Jolida 202 302 and 502 units. I think the 302 has the best sound. The 502 with KT-88s is best for someone who likes a tube sound and rock. I have also compared them directly to the NA...
Suggestions for bare wood floor resonance control
I highly recommend at least a floor jack under each speaker supporting a 3 2x4s accross the joist span. The point is to prevent the speakers from driving the floor as a large diaphram. A heavy wool rug with double pads can also help as long as the...
Dunlavy out of buisness?
BTW in order to not get anyone in trouble I'm not asking anyone disclose any details of the D&B report. Just a simple cfb is off base or seems to be on to something is fine.
Dunlavy out of buisness?
Any member who has access to the D&B commercial credit database can check out cornfedboy's suspicions. I'll contibute $10 to the cost of the query via paypal to any member who will run the query.
Dunlavy out of buisness?
Just talked to the company receptionist. She said that the company has been sold to a local business man who plans to keep the location the same and continue manufacturing. The principals had left by the time I called so I didn't get any details
Has anyone heard the Innersound Electrostatic amp?
I auditioned the Innersound amp and speakers in my home and had a chance to compare them directly to MUCH more expensive high power monoblocks from three different high end manufacturers. The Innersound is a great amp.
at home has unplugged its network
re DSL. I have had DSL at home for a few years and use a cable modem at my apartment close to a work location. On average, I have found the DSL line about the same or faster. At best the cable modem is noticably but not really practicaly faster. T...
