MSB Platinum Link vs. Altis Reference
I have had nothing but good experiences with MSB. I have a Link, a Gold and a Platinum. My main system is a dCS Elgar and a 972 upsampler. The Platinum is very close to the dCS and that's even before their new upsampler board which I should have f...
Insurance On Equipment
My home owners policy has an explicit full replacement costs clause and it is large enough to cover the home and gear. I have a rider with a specific inventory which includes my gear.
Recommend me a good psychologist
I assume that your post is not a put on. I have a similiar background, at the university I managed to complete a major in musicology while getting degrees in EE and engineering physics. Here's a suggestion, since you wanted to be a conductor. Get ...
What does "jitter" sound like????
Now that the DAC's have gotten so much better in the last few years it is much easier to hear the differences in the overall quality of trhe digital signal coming from various transports. Jitter is not the only thing that can cause poor sound from...
Nad or Jolida....That is the question...?
Yes the 502 series are great amps. I've got one in our master bedroom system and one in my corporate apartment where I often stay a few nights a week.
Can upsamplers alter a CD's sonic performance?
Be sure to check out this link from Musical Fidelity on their new upsampling CD player. I read about it today in the Gramophone magazine BEFORE I made my above post. http://www.musical-fidelity.co.uk/
Which is better, live performance or on your system?
A Haydn or Beethoven quartet was not meant for large scale public performance. If there was a 19th row in the hall I can easily imagine many of the a'goners haveing a better musical experience in their sweet spot. Bill, try the Quatour Mosaique pe...
Can upsamplers alter a CD's sonic performance?
I strongly believe that with the right DAC, upsampling improves the sound of a regular CD. I own both the DCS 972 upsampler with the Elgar DAC and the MSB Platinum upsampling DAC. I've also tried the Perpetual technologies in front of a Theta Pro ...
Nad or Jolida....That is the question...?
Just to be clear, the Jolida 1501 is a hybrid design. That means transistors for the power amplification. That also means NO biasing. There are only two 12AX7 tubes which are used as the preamp/isolation stages.
Nad or Jolida....That is the question...?
I understand your frustration, when I was 16 I had to build my own stuff to get decent sound at a price I could afford. But with the internet market that isn't a necessity. I've owned a series of NAD and Jolida amps in my various secondary systems...
Would You Pay $9.95 For Satillite Radio
When I first heard about these services I thought for sure that I was going to be an early adopter. For several years now I have had DMX directly from their satillite with 110 channels. About 10 of their channels interest me and I listen to it reg...
Biggest bucks = Satifaction? Hmmmmm...
If gear, equipment, hardware, etc. call it what you will fascinates you, you will probably also want to drive BMW's.
dcs sound
Audioguy, you're right. I use a Sigtech. Thanks for the reminder but I do have it set on 24 bits. A few comments. At the level of performance we are talking about, I believe that without VERY accurate DSP room correction and very impulse coherent ...
Bybee speaker filter questions
Lornecherry is right. The effect is usually subtle. The amount of the effect is dependent on the amount of electrical garbage that comes into your listening room. It also seems to depend on the interaction between your speakers, speaker cable and ...
dcs sound
Thanks for the info. I'll try to listen the Audiomecca stuff.
