Bybee Quantum Purifiers - Any Opinions?
I use them on my Dunlavy SC-V's and on the inputs to my Melos Monoblocks. I like them. I believe that they work best in environments that have a lot of electrical contamination, like mine.
How much are you worth ?
My wife and I are nuts about music. When my we got out of grad school we had good jobs but we lived in a dump, ate noodles and spent 50-60% of our income on live music(classical), audio equipment and LP's. We spend more now in absolute terms and a...
Parametric eq
I have the Z-systems RDP-1 and it is easy to use. If you are trying to control the bass due to room interactions, I would recommend a DSP room equalization system like Tact or Sigtech
Celibidache on DG or EMI?
Last month I decided to listen to a fair cross section of Celi's performances both on EMI and DG. I listened to the Brahms, Ravel, Debussy, Strauss, Respighi, Haydn, most of the Beethoven and Bruckner as well as the Russian set. Celi is obviously ...
Celibidache on DG or EMI?
To Greg. I think I've heard all of the Furtwangler recordings of the Beethoven's 9th. My first preference is for the 1954 Lucerne Festival with the 1942 Berlin performance second. The Bayreuth festival is a close third.Celi is not to my taste.
Celibidache on DG or EMI?
Recently, I've listened to most of both series. The EMI sound better. Try the Bruckner 4th the performance is superb. The first movement of the Eroica is also excellent. The Brahms series on DG are the only ones I would bother with, the fourth is ...
Star Grounding
My star ground configuration goes to a ground rod outside the listening space but does not ground to the panel. This is against code which calls for a ground at the main box. The major reason for this configuration is my electricity is suppied by ...
Tact RCS 2.0 with upsampler
My Sigtech is located before my dCS 972 upsampler. I've also had it before the MSB Platinum upsampling DAC. I've measured response through the upsamplers and without. It didn't make a difference.
Star Grounding
Yes Detlof is right. There have been several lengthy discussions about how to do this, problems with doing it with in Electical Codes, etc. I'm sorry I don't have the references but several electrical (as opposed to electronics) professionals have...
Adv for the most musical DA?
Hey, thanks for setting me straight. I'll have to track this down and give it a listen.
Adv for the most musical DA?
In addition to my other DACs, I also own an Entec Number Cruncher (the latest version), with an SRP of 599 it is a good value and has excellent bass but it isn't in the same league as the absolute best upsamplers/DACs.
Adv for the most musical DA?
About a year ago I replaced my Theta Pro Gen Va with a MSB Platinum. I'm very happy with the Platinum. This year I purchased the dCS Elgar and 972 upsampler. This combo is more musical than the Platinum but way more expensive.
Musical accuracy in subwoofers
I've only been to about 1000 professional live classical performances and counting. Aside from degrees in physics and EE so I know some math, I also completed a major in musicology and played french horn in a student orchestra. I have also have me...
Musical accuracy in subwoofers
The distortion figures in a sub effect the timbre of the reproduction more than is often realized due to the Fletcher Munson loudness curves. For a simplfied example: a 30 Hz pure sine wave with 10% second harmonic distortion played at around 70 d...
Loudspeakers played LOUD
I spent a few hours comparing the Salons directly to the SC-V. They are a very viable alternative but with different trade-offs. If you primarily listen to rock pop etcI think that most listeners would prefer the Salons. For classical or Jazz I th...
