What drives your music and live show preference?
In my mind there is a distinction between appreciation and preference. I can appreciate many different artists but definitely have a preference for only a handful.
What drives your music and live show preference?
I spent some time yesterday listening to some of my favorite music when it occurred to me that all the music I was playing was music that I had seen at a live performance. That is what prompted me to ask the question. Did I go to the live performa...
Modular Room-w/in-a Room HT? Think's a good idea?
IMO, the market would be even smaller than targeting audiophiles. I think for many of us, the journey is as important as the end goal. Now my wife, on the other hand, might prefer I spend the money and be finished. Then again, if the only space I h...
Personal speaker evolution
Ok, I'll play too.In my primary system, I started with Energy 2.1e bookshelves. Then I purchased my pair of Aerial Acoustic Model 7 which I still use today. In secondary systems, I've had PSB T45, M&K S100B, M&K S85, Boston Acoustics A40, P...
How old are your speakers
I purchased my Aerial Acoustics Model 7 new in 2001. They are my primary speakers that I use regularly, and they are without question (at least in my mind) the best audio purchase I've made.
Need Advice on a Low End CD Player Giant Killer
Soulgoober, I know you are asking about a CD player, but I'd be curious to know how well your receiver handles the signal it receives. IMO, the sound quality of whatever giant killer CD player you find will likely be hampered by your receiver. I h...
looking for a new cd player........
Since a CD player is a transport/DAC combo, another option is to go the separate route.Given the propensity for electronics to fail, particularly those with moving parts, going the separate route would allow you to invest minimally in a transport ...
Speakers for Office/Listening Room
I can't comment on the Large Advents out of personal experience, but that is the type of speaker I would get. I just went out to my local CL and saw some Advents, Polk Monitor 10, Energy 3.1e, Snell type K-III, and some Sansui speakers. Don't worr...
Speakers for Office/Listening Room
I've had more fun with my office system than any other system I've owned. It is where I had the flexibility and freedom to play around with all the variables. I would encourage you to "store" your system in a rack or at least some place open that ...
How does the NAD M3 hold up these days?
Zd542, no not yet. In the long term, I may take this opportunity to step into the active speaker arena. The combination of a DAC/preamp and active speakers is appealing to me. In the short term, I'll take my Coda amp and Monarchy Audio DAC/preamp ...
How does the NAD M3 hold up these days?
Interestingly enough, the reason I logged back into this forum is because my C375BEE is no longer working. I have been an advocate of NAD for a number of years now, but I'm tired of having to repair the equipment: a CD player, a receiver, and now ...
Secondary listening systems
Add me to the list. I have come to enjoy my secondary system much more than my main system. I have a rather large office in the basement which has become my "play room". My office system is mostly 90's vintage: Monarchy Audio DIP > Monarchy Aud...
Recommendations on Christmas Music??
No reason to apologize. I think most of us would agree with you. The four I would recommend in no particular order are:Spiritual to the Bone, Christmas Edition. This is a trombone ensemble playing arrangements by Stephen Bulla and Eric Alexander. ...
How important for surrounds to match fronts?
Rmichael21, I'm not sure if you are still interested in answers, but in the event that you are, I'll add mine.I think the answer to your question depends on the value you place on your HT experience. The more value (and means) you place on your HT...
Magnepan SMGa owners, is this experience typical?
I just listened to Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor as recorded by Michael Murray on the organ. Having the extra woofers on the A400s (as opposed to the A200s) definitely helped out on that one!
