If you had to start all over again in this day and age Thanks pin. I wrestled with buying or building; I can afford the former but enjoy the latter and wasn’t sure streaming was for me. I have well over a 1000 CDs and a top shelf transport and Dac- albeit a dac made for cd output. The RPI opened my ey...
If you had to start all over again in this day and age By the way, I am not overly savvy with technology, but I am fearless in tackling the unknown 😉
If you had to start all over again in this day and age Arro, order a Raspberry Pi4, either 2gb or 4gb, from any number of resellers. This is a small computer board that is amazingly versatile. $35-$55. Order a dac hat for the raspberry- I bought hifiberry dac plus DSP- approx $65 from Hifiberry. You co...
If you had to start all over again in this day and age “I'm a chicken to move toward streaming. It took me years to get a cd player. To me an audio system is still about a tt, a player and a good ole single ended.“I was there not long ago. During this pandemic I wanted a project so I ordered a hifiber...
New to Streaming RPI4 and Hifiberry DAC + DSP Thanks for all the feedback. I will keep tinkering. Found some cool orchestra versions of pop songs on Tidal.
New to Streaming RPI4 and Hifiberry DAC + DSP Which OS did you guys use? I used Volumio and so far so good. I am trying to figure out if I can hook a Windows 10 PC usb to the RPI usb and the sound will be processed by the hifiberry and the sent to my amp. I was techie 25 years ago but not as...
New to Streaming RPI4 and Hifiberry DAC + DSP Hooked up to Tidal first since 5hey had a student discount and I am a lifelong learner. Made the price right. Lots of rap and pop. May not be my cup of tea.
Heresy's II Finally Sound Right-sorry if there's a place i should have put this post.... Very cool. I have a set of Heresy 1s and a set of Quartets in regular use. The Quartets are hooked up to a Vincent SV 500 and they really sing. I used damping material on all the horns and found the sound much more to my liking. No other upgrades ...

Jazz for someone who doesn't like jazz. I am a jazz lightweight, but I can put on Earl Klugh or Peter White and listen all night. Realize this isn't Coltrane, but it's perfect for me. Possibly this would be a good introduction to the genre.
James Taylor I have that same set. I haven't listened to it in a while. Sounds like a good use of isolation on Easter Sunday afternoon.
Great country recording Regarding the comment that Nashville hasn't skimped on recording.- I popped a Tim McGraw CD in and was really disappointed in the SQ. I don't play a ton of country, but the comparison to James Taylor and Jackson Brown CDs was significant. When sta...
Expectations after re cap of power-amp I replaced all the caps in several vintage amps with Elna Silmic and Nichicon FG caps and the improvement was significant. For the $50-75 I invested it was well worth it. What amp could you buy for $500 that would compete power wise with the Yamaha?
The Raspberry Pi 4 ... what's new? What os or software are you using for streaming? I just built a hifiberry dac + pro on a RP 4. Dac seems quite competent. Not sure of software to drive the streamer.
James Taylor I saw JT in Lexington Ky and the show was a bucket list check off. Still gives me chills. Interesting life he has had. If you aren't aware of his personal struggles from a young age it is worth taking some time. He has plenty to draw from. One of ... |
