Speaker cable length.
@pmiller115 The cable runs under the house in the crawl space right along the sill plate. So it won't be exposed to wet or sunlight or even extreme temps. I checked and the cable is 12 awg with good quality insulation around the outside of the 2 ...
BTO Not Fragile
I was surprised how good the sound quality was on Qobuz.

Sadly I do not have that first album although I suspect it was pretty worn out. It spent a lot of time on the record changer. Remember those? Probably nothing worse for a piece of vinyl. The box and gears on the album cover where pressed in relie...
Speaker cable length.
I will play around with it. I'll try to get the longer cable as short as possible and the shorter cable at 5-6 feet. That way I might get the disparity down to 6' vs 12'. I do want to get the speaker cable off the nomex wiring. Will the nomex  in...
Speaker cable length.
@hsounds No internet or wireless down at the cabin! I can stream Qobuz over my cellphone. Sometimes. I'm happy with the system the way it is. I mostly play music off of an old laptop via the Schiit DAC. The whole system cost less than $500 and I...
Speaker cable length.
@gdnrbob Can you tell me why I should keep them at equal lengths? What will I notice if they aren't? What should I look for? If the electricity moves at 1/2 the speed of light (up to 90% according to some sources), the difference in transmission ...
Speaker cable length.
Thanks guys. Makes sense. I already ran the cable since the contractor had to run electrical underneath for the same reason.  The holes were there so it was simple. Haven't cut anything to length yet. @carlsbad2 I think many audiophiles would say...

I don’t know why I’m obsessing about sound stage lately. Its not normally my fetish. However, I’ve noticed on my main system the sound stage sounds low related to my head position. I don’t know why it bothers me but now that I’ve noticed it.........

@elliottbnewcombjr Thanks for the additional info. Agree that speakers need to easier to move. The speakers in my main system weigh 130 pounds with base attached. I had them on spiked feet for a while but that made them very hard to move. Now they...

@soix Agree in principle but buying new equipment is not really my bag and currently this simple solution is doing the job. @mazian Totally agree that a lot of recordings are right channel heavy. Not sure why but this is often obvious despite any...

I don’t have much leeway for moving the speakers of my main system much at all. Somewhat the same situation in my other so-so system. Just easier to move the listening position. I have used balance on the NAD integrated in my mid-fi system. I us...
Robert Plant
@cycles2 said: "As to Plant being the greatest Rock & Roll singer, I’ve seen him in Led Zepp several time in S, Florida in the late 60’s and 70’s in small and large venues and he’s nowhere close to Freddie Mercury, Roger Daltry, Rod Stewart o...
Why "bookshelf" sspeakers?
There are several points I don't understand: 1. "Bigger floor-mounted boxes may have coloration from cabinet vibrations and resonance which can impact the coherence and detail of the midband." It seems to me that any poorly designed cabinet can ...
Why "bookshelf" sspeakers?
Thanks for all the replies. A couple of thoughts: I know the term "bookshelf" my be antiquated or inaccurate but looking around I do see several high end makers that call their own "small" speakers "bookshelf speakers" and some claim they will wo...
