Tube Integrated Amp for Dynaudio Focus 140
Looking at John Atkinson's measurements on the Stereophile site, that's not a very difficult load for an amplifier. All the amps you mentioned will drive them just fine. Unless you are regularly listening at ear splitting levels and setting them u...
Advice on monitor/bookshelves under $2,000
I've owned the same Dynaudio speakers 3 times. I always end up going back to them after trying other monitors for extended periods of time. Read the review of the Excite on the Stereophile site and give them serious consideration. I have the Audie...
Tube rolling 12AX7As
The 12AX7 and 12AX7A is essentially the same tube. In the 12AX7, there are variants used for their quietness, ruggedness and even broadcast and military versions. They even have balanced versions and general upgraded variants. You'll want to famil...
What is Imaging?
Proper speaker placement and sitting position is critical in creating the best imaging that a system offers. This effects depth and width as well as separation of the performers. As for imaging during a live performance, how many people can fit in...
How to adjust EZ Bias Jolida 302 BRC
Disconnect input gear and always leave speakers connected when biasing. If it hasn't been biased by you in the past or if you've changed any tubes, back off the bias screws just an 1/8 of a turn or so (counter clockwise) when you power it up and l...
Diagnostics for hum
Anything motorized that has been added to the circuit can create problems. Ceiling fans, new gear, moving around interconnects, heaters and air conditioners, computers and so on. I would first run an extension cord from another circuit to the gear...
What are the "new" brands in amps and pre-amps
Stereophile is doing a decent job of covering CES and you can read a little about several new companies, as well as several old companies that have resurfaced with different names...like Edge. I don't recall the new name for the guys that develope...
bi-amping cable arrangement
While I wouldn't twist them, I would cross them at 90 degrees if practical and necessary.
I don't like the sound of my system. Help please.
If it were me, I'd sell both ARC pieces and either buy a tube integrated or different amp. The ConnieJ could stay or go, depending on whether you wanted to go with an integrated or add the amp. Your amp is a T amp and though I haven't heard that p...
Most sought audio gears
Any High End gear that is being sold by a really pissed-off wife while her husband is living in a motel waiting to be served divorce papers.
Reason for selling is...
I sell stuff for a variety of reasons, but usually because I'm simply wanting to try something else. Every now and then I try something that I think is particularly appealing for one reason or another and keep it. The component may or may not even...
Preamp - 18 dB Gain too low?
A lot of CJ stuff inverts polarity and since you said you were relatively new to high end audio, you might double check to see if you have the proper polarity.
How many watts per channel are enough?
Based on your listening levels, that's plenty. Even in a relatively large room, such as yours, you'll be fine. Especially given the speakers relatively benign load on the amps.
Please Advise me on Building a System on a Budget
Unless you already have a bunch of albums, I wouldn't advise spending much money on a vinyl rig. Regardless of what the vinyl junkies say, the budget tables, preamps, cartridges and associated platters, counterweights and all that jive is miles aw...

"Mosfet Mist" baby! Sam was and is right.
