Break in of Link DAC III
My understanding of the Half- and Full-Nelson mods was that they were ONLY from the MSB factory. Has the situation changed and is the distributor, or others, permitted to do this?
hearing loss from compressed music
It's other way around. Hearing loss results in listening to MP3s.

Yes, his learning about the subject derives from some very elementary sources and he extracts tantalizing tidbits from the interpretations, not the results, of some cutting-edge studies.

Strange and, in my opinion, unwarranted speculation.
Apogee DA1000 converter : still good ??
Weiss Medea is $9800.
grainy sounding high end system
Whenever I hear of a tube preamp driving a solid-state power amp AND the user voices concern, I ask if the impedances of the two are suitable. What's in OP impedance of the CJ and the input impedance of the ML? Just a thought.

It is not common with the 3-4 DNA-1 amps I've used. I suggest you consult with SMC about it. They are pretty straight.

Open it up and look. From http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?276:"The Full Nelson version—named after Carol Nelson, the MSB sales rep who arranged to get the mod into production—transforms the unpretentious Link III with wholesale compone...
Sonic Frontiers Line 1 have SACD or DVDA ability?
Why not? It's an excellent stereo preamp with a HT bypass.
Adding Digital INPUT to a CDP for use as a DAC?
Get the schematics and it can be figured out. I think it's doable but a huge waste of time with this player.

Never was indisputably lauded. Take a look at the Weiss but you won't find it used for a while.
Monitor with a full range sound?
Comment? Full range and small size are antithetical. How full and how small?
Quietest amplifier you have ever owned.
It's got to be something else. Of the dozens of amps I've had, only one had noise audible more than 3-4 feet from the speakers.
Direct TV causing hum in audio system
I've been using the M.A.G.I.C. ground loop isolator and splitter for months with great satisfaction. You may not need to go all the way to the big box.
Matching CD out to Amp input 2v/20db ?
1. A voltage gain of 20dB is equivalent to 10x the voltage. This means that with full 2v input, the amp will try to put out 20v. Into an 8ohm load, that means 2.5 amps or 50watts.2. As for a passive, which seems preferable since CDs do vary in the...
