Speaker for McIntosh setup
Really anything neutral or even a touch bright will be fine. I would stay away from dark speakers with Mac gear.
Why don't more recordings have soundstage outside of speakers
Try less or zero toe in too for wider soundstage. I find a lot of electronic music goes well outside the speakers
Cut lower frequency to help my bookshelf speakers
Yes high passing your speakers will make a big difference. The mini dsp is a good place to start as it is cheap. I would try 60z-80z. I think it will give you want you need as long as long as you sit 10’ or less.  Assuming that you are with stand ...
Revel Salon 2 vs Vandersteen 5a Carbon
The revels will not wow you as they do not exaggerate anything in anyway. It is a very good speaker and they sound good on McIntosh gear. If they have any major flaw it is lack of impact. They are a little polite and dry. Other wise they are near ...
Is D for Dry? Class D...
I own both a good AB and classD. The D sounds cold and dry to me.
How do you know if you need to add a sub (without auditioning one, I mean)?
It is simple, 99.9% of systems improve with subs.
Raidho D2.1
I have never heard them but they measure like garbage. https://www.hifinews.com/content/raidho-d-21-loudspeaker-lab-report
Best Speakers for a MAC M5200
Revel’s 328be’s tweeter is very soon and refined. No harshness at all. I have not heard a better dome tweeter. If anything it is just a touch below neutral (in room anyway). I have never heard anything from Aerial Acoustics.
Best Speakers for a MAC M5200
Good choice. I demoed a pair of Revel 328be on a full Mac system (MC462/C49) and thought it was one of the better systems I have heard. Really no flaw. There are things on other speakes/amp people might like better but as a whole it was hard to kn...
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers
Even big companies like McIntosh and Revel have long lead times right now.
Magicos!
What did you think the A3 did better than the 226bes? I have only heard the 328be and they were very good (even better with a good sub). I assume the 226be are pretty solid minus the sub bass.
You pay for it and you get it...
Yes I should clarify I guess. My thought is the Yvette or older Sophia 3 with a pair of subs high passed (JL CR-1 etc) at 60hz would play in the same league as Wilson's much bigger models. I don’t like monitors with subs at all. Just to different ...
You pay for it and you get it...
Fair enough. Do you high pass your subs or run them low pass them under your mains? Big difference in how it setups the room. I think there is something right around 50-60hz that big speakers just do better but subs high passed work about the same...
You pay for it and you get it...
I agree. Defining scale and what causes it? Dispersion?, frequency range? Sound power?  I would argue that the Sabrina X with high passed subs would get you right there or maybe even more tuned into the room.
Goldenear triton replacements
You are going to lose some depth in the bass for sure without the powered subs. In that price range I think used Revel 208s or new 206 are worth looking at. Kef R5 or used R7 would be another one. I prefer the revels over the Kefs for a more integ...
