Help - Opinions - Amp for Sonas Faber Olympica III Speakers My local shop had had the Olympica 3 on a Parasound, Classe and McIntosh. They all sounded good. I don’t think it is a picky speaker. I like the Classe the best by a bit but that setup (latest abs greatest) was twice the price of the speakers.
Klipsch Cornwall IV I have heard both the Forte and Cornwall. The Forte is a tricky one as it feels like it needs more space than the Cornwall, maybe due to the passive radiator. So for me other than price I would take the Cornwall and if you can afford $4500 you pro...
Better than Usher Dancer Mini-X DMD? I have never heard the Usher so can’t really help. I know you said new but with monitors picking them up or shipping them is much easier. I would look at used Focal Sopra 1s (a few pairs on here). I think they are the monitor to beat at the momen...
If you own quality monitor speakers you want to read this new review alanhuth is correct. Don’t believe anything unless there is a direct comparison. I could describe Apple air pods and good detail, excellent soundstage and imaging. Good bass but but a little warm and lacking depth. Easy to setup and great build qu...
McIntosh - is it that great? ejr1953,nice system there. I use a MC462 (with two JL e112 subs) on a pair of Thiels and I imagine the Sopra 2 is a perfect match. I am looking to pick up a pair of used Sopra 2s or Revel 228be/328be sometime this year. The revels match well with ...
Using a sub with no sub out on my amp You can also just run leads from the speaker to the sub. It won’t effect your sound unless you are a bat with super hearing. Not all subs take this type of connection. Rel is a brand that does.
Poor quality control crooked driver Where did you get them? If it bothers you return them get another set.
Thoughts on Active/Passive Speakers? Looking for pros and cons. Only con of active is you can’t tune the sound with different amps. All other things being equal are better IMO.
I heard the Box Not directed at anyone, The box sounds different than one would think. When I hear the box the sound stage collapses. Not some boxy sound. I think port noise is sometimes confused with the box flexing and making noise.
Revel 226be vs. 228be I have only heard the 328be but they have very seamless integration between the mids/highs and bass. I can’t think of a better integrated box speaker off the top of my head. The 228be is probably bordering on super speaker performance at a good pr...
New Speakers $10K -$20K Some eye/ear candy. https://youtu.be/DR3dZEHPg38
New Speakers $10K -$20K I really like Sonus Faber but the new models no longer have a warm sound. They are a neutral speaker these days. Try to listen before you buy. I can’t comment on the others.
Apple Music The only way to run high-res from a phone is from an external dac. The dongle has a limit of 44.1khz with a 24 bit depth. So everything is down sampled through the dongle so it is a moot point. The high res is pretty night and day better with the ...
Apple Music Hmm I hear a big difference between the Gregory Porter “All Rise” Lossless and 24-96 high res album. The 256 to lossless is less noticeably. I think this is because apples 256 codec is very good. You can switch instantly and it is very easy to hea...
Klipsch Cornwall IV Cap changes are frustrating because it should not need done. I swear every speaker at even crazy prices come with crap internals. |
