Replacement for 802 D3s
I’d highly suggest only looking at speakers with a cloth dome tweeter. Having auditioned a ton of speakers over the years, I’ve generally found myself much more drawn to them and tend to find metal dome tweeters too bright and harsh for my tastes....
Shopping for new speakers-need ideas... Selling old DQ-10's...
+1 on Egglestonworks. Designed to be non-fatiguing, great mids, great imaging.I just sold my Emma’s, which would be in your price range. You should look for a pair of those used, they’re an insane value for the money. Only sold them because I like...
Are Focal Aria 926 considered to be a Hi-Fi speaker?
I auditioned them a couple of years ago, along with probably a dozen other contenders. They were in fact my front-runners going into the search, given the reviews. But when I heard them I thought they were just ok - a little too bright for my tast...
Best music in 2020
Phoebe Bridgers - PunisherUltraista - SisterBoth outstanding recordings to boot. Ultraista is the side project of Nigel Goodrich (Radiohead’s producer).
Some DACs I am Considering-Any thoughts?
I have the Doge 7 DAC and it’s quite good, to the point where I’m surprised it hasn’t garnered much of a following. I have it rolled with NOS tubes and it is very warm, liquid and images really well. I’m an analog guy so I go for DACs that reprodu...
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
You’ve obviously gotten a lot of suggestions, but I’ll add to the pile. The two upgrades that made far more impact than I was expecting were adding power regeneration (in my case a PS Audio Power Plant 12) and Isoacoustics Gaia feet to decouple my ...
looking for a Integrated amp $6,000 range
I recently got an Aesthetix Mimas and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Looking for new streaming service. Some unusual requirements.
Both Qobuz and Tidal have this option.Tidal might be your best option as while MQA has a lot of flaws, it’s really meant for a limited-bandwidth situation like yours. So if you are able to stream at CD-quality and have an MQA DAC or Roon you can l...
Best isolation platform for a turntable with suspension?
Thanks for the suggestions all! Lots to think about here.Re: Symposium - I looked at their stuff but since it uses springs I was thinking that it wasn’t going to do much for me since the Avid already uses springs as well. But maybe I’m wrong about...
Why would I need Roon?
Benefits of Roon:Let’s you mix your collection of personal files with hi-res streaming services like Tidal and QobuzLet’s you transcode / upsample music from streaming services  (for me transcoding to DSD has sonic benefits)Roon Radio will basical...

@mikelavigne It’s a Sanus JFV65: https://www.sanus.com/en_CA/products/furniture/jfv65/It looks nice and has an integrated mount for my 65” TV. Long term i absolutely want to replace it, but during this pandemic there’s no way I could do anything w...
Best isolation platform for a turntable with suspension?

Best isolation platform for a turntable with suspension?
Floor type is wood, probably over poured concrete. It’s an apartment building so i can’t be sure but it’s really solid which makes me think concrete.
Roon: is it just a pretty face for browsing music?
Roon lets you aggregate from multiple sources into a really polished, user-friendly interface. It also gives you an incredibly flexible DSP that lets do things like, for example, transcode all PCM audio (including from streaming sources) to DSD, o...
A warm DAC?
I'm late to the party here, but the Doge 7 tube DAC is a fantastic option for you. It has a fully balanced tube output stage, giving you the flexibility to roll NOS tubes and make it as warm as you want it.It sounds really analog for a DAC, it's a...
