Rank the top reference DACs you've heard
+1 the EMM DA2v2 is definitely one. I’m an analog guy and this dac along with the MSB Select 2 makes me forget it’s digital. If you’re on a budget, the Meitner MA3 is also a very strong contender.
Shopping for a DAC at AXPONA
Don’t forget the Meitner MA3.
new Meitner MA3 hit the rack today
Just a quick update on the DA2v2/NS1. Both hooked up via EMM Optilink. I did compare the Optilink vs the AES input and it’s quite shocking how much better the Optilink sounded. Just toggle the inputs on the remote. Took a long time for this combo ...
new Meitner MA3 hit the rack today
The DA2v2 and NS1 arrived today. It hit the rack and I’ve been listening to it for about an hour. It’s difficult to believe how easily it surpasses the MA3 in every respect stone cold out of the box. Will let it stabilize and report back with deta...
new Meitner MA3 hit the rack today
The EMM DA2v2/NS1 is scheduled to arrive next week and I will let it settle for a few days before listening to it and post my impressions.

Prior to this I had a Ypsilon DAC1000. The ypsilon has a bit of an edge over the MA3 sonically. I sold it to a friend who wanted it and used the MA3 in the interim until I could figure which road I want to go. It definitely performed way better th...
Help settle a streaming argument!
OP. I myself is new to streaming. I’m mostly and analog guy. Yes streamers do make a big difference when hooking up to an external dac. Rather than speculating and asking everyone here why not go and listen yourself and form your own conclusions? ...
new Meitner MA3 hit the rack today
Just received my MA3 and streaming through its built in streamer. All I can say is wow! What an amazing sounding piece. Makes me wonder what the DA2v2/NS1 would sound compared to it.
Phono Stage SoulNote E-2, the only one that accepts DS Audio Optical cartridges and more..
It’s an amazing sounding phono stage. It has an input for optical cartridge and that opens a whole avenue for trying new technologies. Furthermore if you’re into mono recordings there are multiple settings for accommodating non RIAA recordings whi...
Temperature of water for ultrasonic RCM
Warmer water is always preferable when cleaning your records or cleaning anything in general. Problem is records warp with heat. When using isonic tanks made for record cleaning the temperature is pre-set to not exceed 35c/95F therefore safe for y...
What is a good turntable preamp under $500?
IFi Zen phono with the optional ipowerx power supply.
Solid State Phono Stages
I highly recommend the Accuphase C-47. It’s a very good sounding phono stage. Solidly built and very quiet.
End-Game RCM thoughts/advice
Please make sure you get the one with “SONIC”. That will be the one where the brushes vibrate and scrubs the LP.
End-Game RCM thoughts/advice
You need the clearaudio double matrix sonic! It cleans both sides and the brushes vibrate sonically as it scrubs the record. It’s also fully automated and does a complete bi directional cycle in scrub, rinse and vacuum. I use this machine as a rin...
Ultrasonic cleaning before and after
Been playing around with ultrasonic cleaning for over a year. I have found that all surfactants do contribute to the sound of the LP washed with it. Currently I use a less than 2.5% isopropyl solution in the ultrasonic bath. Spin 3 LPs spaces 1.25...
