Dynavector XV-1s What is the REAL story?
The 1t is in my opinion improves all the shortcomings of the 1s. It’s the more civilized version of the 1s. I had the 1s for a few years and never warmed up to it despite the rave reviews. Yes it is a very good sounding cartridge and it did some t...
KISEKI PURPLE NS your reviews....
What are the odds? 2 out of the 3 cartridges had problems out of the box. I am referring to the Purplehart NS. The third sample worked properly but the sonics were mediocre at best. Was the third sample also somewhat defective? I can’t say. It was...
KISEKI PURPLE NS your reviews....
Installed for a friend quite a few years ago. First 2 samples were somewhat defective. The third sample was acceptable. That says a lot about the consistency of the build. Didn’t quite warm up to the sound and he finally sold it. The originals wer...
How good is the Micro Seiki DDX-1000 Direct Drive turntable ?
I’ve owned at least 3 of these. They are really pretty looking with a massive looking platter. That’s about it. . What I didn’t like.....1. Lightweight platter2. Weak motor3. Aluminium Armboards come loose. The brass ones are good4. Check the rubb...
Audio desk pro vs. Clear audio double matrix
I contemplated buying a KLaudio machine but ended up doing something else. I now use a iSonic ultrasonic tank that will spin 3 LPs at once for 10mins and then rinse off with distilled water using a Clearaudio professional Double Matrix Sonic. The ...

Good Semi-automatic Turntables ?
A Technics SL10. Install an Ortofon OMP40 on it and you’ll be happy for a long time.
Ypsilon Phaeton + Marten Coltrane Tenor = which DAC?
Have the standard version. Took a long long time to really break in. I’m at 450 hours now. It really took approx 440hours for it to really snap in. Sounded pretty good out of the box but a little uneven in it’s presentation. Right now as I am list...
About to Buy a Technics SP-10!? Am I making a mistake?
If the arm is included it’s a no brainer. Arm is worth $1200 on the low side of things and depending on condition can be worth over $1500 by itself. The motor unit and power supply another easy $1000 if it works. Yes looks like it’s well used but ...
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
Thanks for clarifying. From the specs they seem to be identical. I’ve opened them but not side by side. Yes it’s a spring loaded platter. Have been using the copper on it for a good while with no ill effects.
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
75 and 80 are essentially the same. Looks exactly the same too except for the switch and knob which you will never use anyways. Just a thought. Other lower models are not worth the effort in my opinion. Og also put out a nice copper mat on it when...
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
The DP80 is a remarkable turntable. I’ve used one in a secondary system for a while. The sound is between the SP10/2 and belt drives. A good overall compromise. The 75 is easier to source. Basically the exact same as the 80 but without the pitch c...
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
Hi fast mick, I also have the DK2300double arm plinth. Too bad it wouldn’t take a 12”. Both the DK300 and the 2300 are really solid and well built. Get the feet changed and take it to the next level!
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
The plinth is solid. Well made but the feet is the weak spot there. Poorly executed. The feet on the DK300 can be upgraded to Stillpoints or equivalent. I was going to do it but it sold before I had the chance to do it. It’s basically a little pla...
Plinth ideas for DENON PD-80 DD turntable
Chakster. The stock DK300 is a nice plinth. Constrained layer. I had a DP80 with an FR64s on it. Actually sounded great. Sold it last year to a friend who really wanted it badly. Just picked up another DP80 on a stone plinth. Wondering if there ar...
