Speaker help - short list needed
The Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signatures fit your parameters perfectly, IMO. They appear to be going for just under $1500/pr. used nowadays.Your own example, Sonus Faber would have been my other suggestion, so it looks like you already have that op...
Small monitors/bookshelves for classical music
I concur on the VR-1 recommendations. The RS-1s would also be a good choice if you can find a pair. Finally, if you can find a used pair of Eric-1s by Consonnace they should also fit the bill nicely for well under $500/pr. used.
Tyler Acoustics my experience
CODA here as well.
Tyler Acoustics my experience
Bigwavedave,Just a heads' up that the folks on Ty's Home Demo list are not compensated for their demos. I used to be on the list and never received a penny for any of the auditions folks came to me for in my home, whether they bought some speakers...
entry level bluray?
While I have no direct knowledge of the BDP-1, after looking at Amazon, it would appear to have many detractors. Some of the key comments indicated relatively poor quality and slow load times. As it has been out for a while, I too would be concern...
entry level bluray?
What *he* said. ;-)Sorry, just checked the thread again now and saw your question, but Chad beat me to it. ;-)Dave
Legacy speakers and what amps?
You may want to try finding some used Legacy Audio amp gear. Most of it was actually made by Coda (their Continuum line) and biased for Legacy speakers. I use the amps with my Tyler Acoustics speakers, and I have been quite impressed. Usually the ...
entry level bluray?
The Oppo mentioned is indeed an excellent player and is highly recommended... That said, I would not in any way classify it as "entry-level." It actually is the best player on the market for relatively sane money, IMO.If your friend is indeed look...
need to down size to monitors
You may want to consider a used pair of Tyler Linbrook Signatures... they are large stand monitors, but have bass down to -3db at 35hz. They should be around your price range. The Merlins already mentioned are also superb speakers. They won't go as...
Speakers with many drivers...
I actually like the XRT-28s from McIntosh. I heard them in an extended session at a dealer in AZ a few years back driven by all McIntosh electronics. While it has been quite a while since I heard them, I still remember being in awe as to just how ...
Salk Speakers - Opinions & Advice?
Interesting about S7horton's comments on the Tylers at AKFest. I have not heard the new Decade line of Tylers so I can't comment on those... but as a current long-time Tyler owner of many of their older Linbrook and Taylo line speakers (and having...
Why so negative about McIntosh speakers?
No hate here. I heard their XRT28s a few years back, and still remember just how impressed I was. I guess as others have said, it is all about individual taste...
Subwoofer choice, Sub to pair with Sonus Faber
I have heard Martin Logan Descents paired well with SF speakers.---Dave
Tyler Woodmere II: any advices?
More unfortunate comments from Macrojack. Count me too as one of the "fawning fools" that are Tyler customers (even though I regularly attend audio shows, peoples' homes and dealers to listen to many other brands each year big and small; keeping u...
Tyler Woodmere II: any advices?
Rtilden is spot-on accurate. Tyler speakers in general are a perfect match for CODA, IMO. You may want to also check out the Linbrook Signature System from Tyler as well. If you talk with Ty, he can point you in the right direction... Also, as Akt...
