Fed up with people making noise at classical shows
Chadnliz: Sorry if my first reaction upon hearing someone disrupt the music I'm 1) paying to hear, and 2) trying to have a emotional connection with, isn't, "Well, at least I have a job." While I understand the point you were trying to make, it st...
Cable Costs Relative to System
IMO cables are the biggest racket in audio. It all depends on what cables work in a given system. You don't need to spend a lot of money to get great sound. In fact, there are many low priced stuff that outperform the expensive ones. Years ago my ...
Seeking floorstander for low watt SET
Well said Charles1dad. I've been thinking about my experience with the Coincidents since I sold them a while back. I'm thinking maybe my pair didn't jive well with my equipment/cables/room, whatever. Or maybe they were even damaged in some way? As...
Seeking floorstander for low watt SET
Another idea is the easy-to-drive Coincident speaker. They have a large side-firing woofer which may make things easier for rock in a large room like yours. I bought a pair and couldn't get rid of them fast enough. However, the overwhelmingly favo...
Fed up with people making noise at classical shows
Now that I think more about it, it's not ONLY about having common sense. It's about the emotions felt during an event. If one goes to a rock concert, the material itself suggests that one gets out of their seat, screams and shouts, claps hands or ...
Seeking floorstander for low watt SET
Hmmm...You use a low watt SET to listen mainly to classic rock? Well, I guess a Zu Essence may be your best bet. 10.3 inch woofer, 97 db sensitivity. Some folks are happy with the Tektons, also with a large driver and sensitive. I'm loving my Omeg...
Fed up with people making noise at classical shows
Yes, before every concert I've been to, the Master of Ceremonies, Program Director or whoever, asks the audience for the obvious: shut off cell phones, take candy out of the wrapper, etc. Apparently not everyone listens. Brownsfan sees my point pe...
Fed up with people making noise at classical shows
Davt: It's about the RESPECT that one should give to the composer, the musicians, the audience and most importantly, the MUSIC itself. One thing I've noticed attending around twenty concerts a season for seven years is this: MOST, not all, but mos...
Help me make sense of what I'm hearing
"So here's the million dollar question: how do achieve it all (if not most of my goals) of punchy bass, sweet vocals, and resolving-ness without harshness?"Good luck.
looking for advice on bookshelf speakers
How about a full range driver with no tweeter?
Tube preamp for about $1500?
There is a Decware tube preamp for sale right now....well below your bottom price.
Muddy Waters Folk Singer
First time I ever heard this album....my friend let me borrow it. I just so happened to have a bag of shrooms on me. So, I indulged myself and played Folk Singer.....One of the most unforgettable musical experiences of my life. I will never forget...
Omega Super 3 owners - what amp are you using?
Any low-watt SET amp IN A SMALL ROOM will work wonderfully with Omega speakers. I'm using a Dynaco ST-70 with a pair of MaxHemp V2's with great results. Bass is a little shy but my room is quite large.

Are CD players dead
Funny. I started the same thread a while ago and everybody chastised me. Today, it's ok.....shame on you all. LOL!
