Tonearm ...... Acos Lustre GST-801 ..... Yea/Nay
You'd better ask which counterweight is on this arm (A or B), because he does not have 2nd one (or even a ring). Also make sure the magnetic tracking force and anti-skating are working or you will have to use this arm just like a static one.
MM Cartridge for music on the heavier side
For this tonearm and turntable look for Stanton 881s mkII or Pickering XSV-3000 cartridges with Stereohedron tip, within your budget you can find even unused samples probably. Another absolutely killer option for the money is Audio-Technica AT-ML1...
Tonearm ...... Acos Lustre GST-801 ..... Yea/Nay
Very well....do you find it useful to use the five-position damper on the back of the counterweight? It was a mess to figure out how to assemble all the parts of the counterweight mechanism correctly when i bought my first beaten sample of GST-801....
Tonearm ...... Acos Lustre GST-801 ..... Yea/Nay
Can you name which cartridges models you use with Epa 100? Well, actually i upgraded from EPA-100 to the EPA-100 mkII. On my ex EPA-100 i’ve been using those rare Technics cartridges most of the time. Also the ZYX Airy III and Premium 4D LOMC on ...
Tonearm ...... Acos Lustre GST-801 ..... Yea/Nay
Lustre 801 is tonearm for MC heavy not for MM medium or high compilance. Not really, it is very flexible with a choice of cartridges, but as i said to use higher compliance MM one need a lighweight counterweight and lightweight headshell. The s...

Advice for novice needed on turntable
Unfortunately the taste is so different between any of us. Something that is cool for one of us is ugly for another. But when you're buying brand new $4k Technics SL1200G you can be sure about quality and with your budget you can even swap the sto...

3 must have moderate priced tonearm for any of us in my opinion. It took a while to find a NOS, properly working sample of Lustre GST-801 for my collection (with two counterweights and additional ringweight included), previous used sample was ok, b...
Assistance Identifying an Ikeda Cartridge
Did you ever looked on the link i gave you ? However I find no reference to an Ikeda 9 anywhere on the net. Is this the first Ikeda cartridge? All IKEDA cartridges are here and you can check specs and prices for each of them. There are so many var...
Advice for novice needed on turntable
$8k is already a "wow" Buy new Technics model, the one you like the most, it can be something like $1700 - 4000 and the rest is for a mat, clamp, phono stage and a cartridge. The SL1200GR or higher model SL1200G are both superb Direct Drive, both ...
Assistance Identifying an Ikeda Cartridge
@neonknight Just look at ALL Ikeda cartridges here, hope you will find yours. The J.R. is just OEM for US market, normally overpriced compared to genuine Ikeda for Japanese market. BTW only cantilever-less design is worth the attention, some of the...
Interesting difference between 12" and 9" tonearms
When i was reading about Decca cartridges i quickly learned that they are not for every tonearm, actually very limited choice of tonearms are suitable for this specific cartridge. I could not stand its design, so i never bought any Decca, the jour...

Would I hear more background noises with MC Lo, than with Ho ? May even be less with MM ? But MM is less life lke music, compare to Lo MC ? I think it depends on each particular cartridge, the stylus tip type and the quality of your phonostag...
Ortofon A90 review.... wrong choice of gear

Which tubes is better. Siemens or Telefunken?
Normally it depends on each particular model, year of production and even a factory where those German tubes made. I enjoyed Telefunken, but never tried Siemens, i’ve heard that both are top quality in general. It is more important what is better ...
