regarding the Tiger Paw tranquility
I am trying to understand the comments which seem to discuss the concept of 'slippage' due to magnetic coupling. Either I am missing this or they are. There is no magnetic coupling between the subplatter and the top main platter. The platters...
regarding the Tiger Paw tranquility
Thanks for responding but I was referring to the magnetic levitator for the bearing.
TIGER PAW "Tranquility" (Magnetic Bearing Repulsion...) Any Good?
I am trying to understand the comments which seem to discuss the concept of 'slippage' due to magnetic coupling.  Either I am missing this or they are.  There is no magnetic coupling between the subplatter and the top main platter.  The platters S...

There we go again.  Clash of the titans (superhumans) who can hear the electrons in a wire colliding as they travel ......  Keep going.  Great entertainment :-)
I'd like to upgrade my speaker wire
What you need is <= 12 gauge wire but even more importantly, very FINE stranded wire with MANY strands.  Higher frequencies tend to be affected by the skin effect and over such long lengths, the resistance will add up.  The more strands there a...
Origin DC Motor in LP12: Marketing or reality?
Hi bimasta,I do not know what country your power station experience was in but mains frequency is usually tightly controlled in most countries to be quite stable.  Even that is moot point since the Valhalla or Hercules boards generate their own in...
Amplifier current vrs watts; why is current more important?
A speaker is an INDUCTIVE load.  What that means is that it proportionally resists the rise of voltage across it.  In Calculus, the voltage across an inductor is given as:V = L x di / dtL: inductance in henries and di / dt is the rate of change of...

Entry level turntable for my son
You must be one of the lucky ones.  I used the 'standard' Hurst motor in my Linn Sondek and it broke on me after about 18 months with grinding noises. My point is, I AM talking from experience.Unless VPI is using a 'specialized' version of the Hur...
Entry level turntable for my son
Cheaper/earlier  VPIs use the Hurst motor which does NOT have a lower bearing on the motor (God knows why they designed that s..t like that) ?In a year or so, motor starts getting destroyed.  Keep away from any turntable which uses the Hurst synch...

Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Wow, your post was long and informative. Thanks...Let me tell you my experience. I have come to experience (not believe) that it is NOT the type of the cartridge (MM/MC) but more the actual type of the stylus (elliptical, shibata, microline, van d...
What class of amplifier has the most high definition sound ?
Class A, since there is no crossover distortion of any sort.NO OTHER CLASS can beat it.BUT....... class A runs extremely hot & inefficient.Pass Labs are the best example.
