Looking for the "better sub"
Again, another recomendation that you consider MJ. i recently bought 2 of their reference 200's and they are working insanely well with my big Soundlab 'stats.
Any other MJ Acoustics owners out there?
Well, the ref 200's are in the system now and I'm more than just a little impressed. The soundstage has expanded in every direction and instruments are better defined, almost as if they have more space to themselves. Contrary to previous experienc...
Any other MJ Acoustics owners out there?
After careful research and much waiting to see what would become available used, i settled on a pair of new ref 200's. They're on their way and when they get here i'll come back to this thread and give you my opinion. i chose them beacause of all ...
Why is the industry so lame?
I'm in complete aggreement with wdrazek. Innovation has been, and will continue to be, from the high tech community. The high end sector seems to see itself apart from the digitization driving music, choosing to sell to the installed base. As a re...
life without audio dealers
'you don't have to be a food critic, movie critic or wine critic, for example, to be able to tell that you like something. noone can tell another what is best for that person, with the exception of a doctor or lawyer. we are dealing with aesthetic...
life without audio dealers
'will admit that I have done the borrow "product" from my local hifi shop just to purchase it cheaper online, and I would probably do it again. No reason to pay retail plus tax when you can purchase at a fraction of retail, right?'followed by....'...
How Do You Organize Your Music?
i organize my music for maximum emotional impact; Saturday morning music, late night music, etc. i get into a certain mood and some music is always better than others at enhancing and complimenting that feeling. This helps find that next piece of ...
Audio Aero MK II BNC Output to Mac Digital input?
Hi Unclejeff,I'm interested in using the AA as a transport, feeding the G5 and creating files in Itunes, as opposed to using the computer drive to get the files into iTunes. You would think, or at least hope, that the AA drive would have some bene...
Benchmark DAC1 using Toslink input
i've been getting rather fantastic results from an Apple G5 tower toslinked out (same generic glass cable as mentioned earlier) to an AA cap mk 11. In an AB session with the built -in transport in the AA, the tweaked out G5 does better than hold i...
music server
Couldn't agrred more with your nicely put construct Somec. i'm getting serious performance out of an Apple G5 tower configured as a music server connected optically to an Audio Aero Capitle mk 11. Performance has passed the AA transport and there'...
PC-Audio vs. High-end CD Player-GAME OVER
i've recently hooked up a Mac g5 tower, powered by a PS Audio power plant, via digital output to my AA Capitole mk11. it sounded great, so started to tweak, now have roller balls and a bdr shelf for source under the g5, and have passed the point o...
Airport Express vs. Squeezebox 3
try a good cable on the AE and you will be surprised. Had both and the SB software was just plain too buggy. Compared to Itunes its was no contest in terms of overall functionality.
How far would you drive to audition a component?
Ottawa to Toronto, 4 and a half hours each way, to audition Soundlab A1 speakers. i bought 'em, but had to hire a truck and a few movers to get them back.
MBL 101e's vs. Soundlab U-1's
I hope you're leaning towards buying them from the dealer who gave you what sounds like an extensive demo. Using a dealer for demo purposes and then shopping for price is seriously uncool business.
what is an audiophile ?
You're an audiophile if you have a collection of at least 20 'enhanced' recordings with questionable musical value but sound real nice.
