Audio Desk Systeme - Vinyl Cleaner – Repair of Water Pump Failure
Hi David, can you post your photo's at another audio site for all to see? I'd like to see exactlly whats inside of my AD Pro model. The pump still works but the rollers fail to engage and rotate. Thank you   BillWojo
Which SUT to match Koetsu Rosewood Standard in my system?
Go look for a used Denon AU-340 SUT. They use high end Tamura transformers and can be found under 500 bucks from Japan auction sites. I've had good luck there and got mine for about 400 shipped. Your cart's requirements are close to a DL-103, tha...
Thinking about selling my Vincent 737
@henry53, when I hear that an amp sounds bad on efficiant speakers than it tells me that the amp has issues at low power or your upstream gear is deficiant. My Altecs are brutal on bad gear or recordings, my Mac MC40's reproduce whats fed to them...
I feel it is time to upgrade my 1977 system.......
Altecs here as well. Mac MC40 tube monoblocks rebuilt for power and a Audio Research SP8 for a preamp. It may all be old but boy does it sound great. New stuff never impresses me, I just shake my head at the stupid prices and smile everytime I tur...
Do 5-pole DIN tonearm connectors deteriorate the sound?
Because 5pin DIN is the standard connector for most tonearms. Since I like to collect tonearms I like the 5 pin DIN connectors. If everything is in good condition than there shouldn't be any degridation or signal loss. But I'm sure others with gol...
Looking for Tonearm Advice/Suggestions
Do a search on this forum for tonearm suggestions. Chakster really liked vintage Japanese arms and they cost way less than some of those arms listed yet still have great performance. I'm partial to JVC UA-7045 and UA-7082 tonearms.   BillWojo
Tonearms without anti-skate, damage to records?
I like the antiskate on my Victor UA-7045 and UA-7082 tonearms. There is a knob on the top with numbers that alters the tension on a hair spring. AS as well as VTA is set on the fly if you wish. Extremely well engineered and built. I agree with o...
Game Changing Tweak
All this arguing back and forth and it can simply be verified with a scope hooked into the 120VAC line. Look at the scope after plugging the 300 dollar unit in and measure what the difference is. Report back. Heck, why won't the manufacture do th...
My Luxman Integrated has AC Inlet Envy
Wow, I'm so glad my old Audio Research SP8 preamp has a captive power cord. Those connectors are just another point of failure. Even my ancient Mac MC40 monoblocks have a captive power cord, looks to be lampcord as well. All original and still in ...
Goodbye Everyone
Hey Elliott, come on over to AK and HiFiHaven, you will fit right in. We could use another guy like you.   BillWojo
Tell me about saec 308 Long tonearm
I've not used a Saec 308 arm but I'm in agreement with Serge on this. As far as being heavy, it would suit the cartridges that I use and am looking forward in the future to use. I know my friend uses one with a Denon DL-103 with great results on h...
Review of Quadratic MC-1 SUT With Comparisons to Other SUTs
Very nice read on some high end SUT's. I appreciate the effort that went into writing it. Since I  own a Denon AU-340 with Tamura transformers and haven't yet experienced any of the above mentioned units I'm curious as to where mine would fit. It'...
VTL MB-450 or Manley studio 440 input voltage modification
Why not just buy a 240V to 120V step down transformer big enough to power both amps? I run 100V Japanese gear on 120V using step down transformers. As a bonus they clean up some of the line noise.   BillWojo
Simplest Linear PSU?
If I wanted simple I wouldn't have researched and picked out my Audio Research SP8 ver5 preamp with it's multiple regulated power supplys. Talk about complex, but it all part of what makes that preamp so good. Want a great power supply on the che...
Audio Desk Systeme - Vinyl Cleaner – Repair of Water Pump Failure
Yes, it's the Pro model. The thing is I worked with Robert and did everything he told me to do. Looks like it needs to go in for service. He thinks it needs an update mod of some sort. Guess I'll toss it into my car and run it up to his shop one o...
